Babylon 5: The Complete Series [Blu-ray] [1994] [Region Free]

Best Sci-Fi Series ever
I watched this in the 90s when it first came out. Fantastic CGI for the time, and the characters and plot was (and still is) amazing, and really gets you involved. I've seen tons of sci-fi over the years and this is easily my favourite. The bluray boxset just enhances the experience of watching this classic sci-fi series. The live action scenes are really good quality HD now. The CGI by comparison on modern large TVs still looks "old", but amazingly stands up really well considering its age following the HD process. Yes its not a complete re-do of the CGI from scratch / re-rendering etc, but probably an AI upscale of the original. I'm midway through season 2 so far and it still looks good to me though - though there is a small jump in CGI picture quality from series 1 to series 2. I suspect later series will look better still, as the original CGI probably had a bigger budget in later series, and thus be better quality to start with. The only disappointing things about the boxset are:1) "The Gathering" pilot has had no remaster whatsoever, and nowadays just looks awful compared to the remastered episodes. It is a good reminder of how we watched it back in the 90s though, on our 14 inch "portable" TVs. And also serves as a good comparison to how the HD remastered episodes look.2) There are no special features, interviews or extras etc. It is just the pilot, the episodes, and a trailer for "The Road Home" animated film. This doesn't bother me though, as I'm not bothered about that and have the DVD boxset with them on anyway.3) The actual physical box is a bit cumbersome to get the discs out.4) The front picture on the boxset, and used in the bluray menus, is NOT a scene that ever happens in the series. Granted an Earth Force Omega class destroyer getting shot at by the Shadows looks cool, but it never happened. I think they should have had a picture of the actual station the show is named after - Babylon 5. Its almost disrespectful to not include a picture of the station anywhere.

One of the best TV sci-fi series ever
I bought the full normal dvd box set back in 2000s at a cost of £260 pounds.. at the time all the series on the DVDs worked as they should have but over time some of the series on the discs did not play on any DVD. Babylon 5 forums on the internet had the same problems with some of the disc and no one seems to know way. So glad that the box set came out on Blu-ray and I pre ordered it back in August 2023 and it was delivered at the beginning of December 2023.. it is now May 2024 and I ve just finished watching all of it.. Babylon 5 is still one of the best sci-fi series ever basically in layman's terms it's about the United Nations in space with different alien races or ambassadors representing their worlds as it is in the United Nations and the different ambassadors representing their countries.. skirmishes and wars break out between different races as they do here on earth. The Blu-ray discs offer much better, Sharper and more colourful experience than the normal DVD discs. The only thing I don't like is the packaging that the discs are presented in. I think the original DVD box set packaging is much better.

One off the bucket list.
For one reason or another, I've never been able to get around to watching Babylon 5, caught an episode every now and again when I was a kid and wanted to watch more, but never caught it anywhere right from the beginning, so finally bought the box set. In the process of watching and loving it so far, but my word, the box these discs come in! Trash. You almost break the discs taking them out. Oh and a word of warning, as I've found before with other series, for some reason these manufacturers decide that it's a really really good idea to put the pilot episode hidden at the back of the box behind the last disc of the very last season, because obviously you watch the first episode after you've watched everything else, don't you, stupid!!!

The version Babylon 5 fans should have had to begin with.
I was a fan of the original pilot episode, I had rented it on VHS before the series went to air. I found it very different from Star Trek & found the following series very entertaining. The stories were more believable, touching, funny, adventurous & very human. Where there are still issues & not everything can be solved with the push of a button. This transfer onto blu ray is how the show should have been done when first released on dvd. The picture is clear & the CGI still looks good for a program that was really testing the limits of it back in the day. If Warner Bros had payed this much attention the first time round it would have been appreciated by the fans of the show.I have read a few reviews with some folks not happy that the TV movies & the Crusade spin off have not been included but I can live with them on dvd. We can only hope that some point in the future they get the upgrade treatment. But I am grateful for this release, to watch a show as good as this without the very grainy cropped close ups is a treat. 👍

The worst errors of the remasters have been fixed!
The missing parts from Season 1 "Babylon Squared" & Season 4 "The Hour of the Wolf" have been restored! The intros for the first 2 episodes in Season 2 are now SPOILER FREE!Missing "Previously on Babylon 5.." sections have been restored!A typo in the on-screen title of Season 2 "The Long Twilight Struggle" has been corrected!I have not and will not check all of the various minor audio, closing music, frame rate, colour balance and text credits issues. The bad news? The post commercial break "bumper" logo animations and stinger that were left in between Acts I & II of some episodes of the streaming remasters are still there (at least in 2 episodes I checked: Season 1 "Babylon Squared" and Season 2 "And There All the Honor Lies").During the ISN news report scene near the end of Season 4 "Endgame" there is still no overlayed CGI news report screen. Being a mixed CGI/live scene I believe this would have to have been presented in low resolution and the original floating screen looks a bit ropy by today's standards. So ... a shame but I'll take the crisp HD version that still has the ISN-badged battle clip following. My good, dear friends; never did I imagine there would ever *really* be a Blu-Ray release but here we are.

One of the best sci-fi series ever
My wife and I enjoyed watching this sci-fi series again on this DVD set. I remember reading that the series was planned out from the beginning as 100 episodes. The writers used a setting in the future at an outpost far out in space as a means of commenting on current issues. The DVDs came in a well-made case that keeps the discs organized so you can go back and watch the series again.

Excellent series
The series is excellent. However the package is a nightmare and also the subtitles are not consistent over all DVD, some of them have no subtitles at all... Overall happy to be able to see again one of the best SciFi series.

Best series ever but not the sound.
I have both DVD and blue ray. But when playing the special effects sounds are way to loud as is the second part of the series intro. The quality is much better than the DVD but if my blue ray player isn't affecting it it's not always a constant quality. Still 4 stars for the best series out there.

Infinitamente mejor que el desastre de la edicion en DVD, pedazo de serie, la temporada 1 empieza floja pero en la 2 ya gloria

Bylon 5 HD in the best quality bought to the best seller
THE SELLERFirst of all, I would like to tell about the seller, it is a very good seller. If you have a problem with the product, they will do their best to solve it. So don't worry, you can buy with all the warranties that you will can enjoy the product.I had a problem with one disk, it couldn't be played because it has a very slight circular scratch.I contact with the seller, they reply quick, they are diligent and kindly. When I explain my problem, they directly offer me the solution to send me another one without needed to give back the first one. They didn't ask more, just offer to send a new one with no cost.I have never expected this solution, at least I expected to have to send back the first one, but for me it would be expensive, because it is an international order. So I only can have the best words for this seller.THE PRODUCTIt is Babylon 5 in HD, in the best quality. It is best than any of the versions that you can find in streaming, Apple TV, Amazon or HBO Max.The bitrate is much higher, each episode is about 8GB, so you can see that it ratains the grain of the image, for me a sign of quality. Also, the color is better than in the DVD version, more natural. The format is 4:3, not 16:9, so it doesn't feel whole width of the TV, but for me it is not a problem, it is how it was boradcast in TV when it was released. And I can't add more than another reviews, for me it worth the money, if you love the serie, buy it, you will enjoy it.
