Q: Can this polish stainless steel?

Yes, but you need a higher grit for chrome look

Q: Is there a buffing wheel version of this pad? We use this at my work, but we do so much with these pads that a wheel would save time

There is such a thing we have them at work use on die grinders

Q: Can these light grey scotch Brite pads be used to repair scuffed and scratched hardwood? Maybe rough up and put a light coat of polyurethane back on?

There are soft enough for not to create damage and gouges, but hard enough to scuff hard surfaces, I did used on a very old table that I did not wanted to damage the etchings but it took off the top aged layer, then I applied epoxy top coat and the table looked like glass.

Q: what is the grit for this? (we need at least 400 grit)

It’s not rated that way. I use it in place of 600 grit wet sanding or 0000 steel wool before polishing with a swirl mark compound and buffing pad.
