24: Legacy Season 1 [DVD]

Feedback on the first episode of 24:Legacy
This is a high octane first episode, following in the tradition firmly established with the earlier 9 series of 24. Okay it does not have Kiefer Sutherland in it, but he is probably too busy being POTUS in Designated Survivor (lol). The story line is very engaging and sucks you in within the first 5 minutes - I won't tell you what it is as this could spoil your enjoyment. In my opinion, this is going to be a must watch series. Awesome.

If you like 24 with Jack Bauer I'm sure you'll enjoy
I like this. Very much in keeping with Jack Bauer series. Same M.O. I like Carter and well written. Predictable in places due to the nature of the 24 series but in way that's nice. They still have an element of surprise. It was nice to see old faces from Jack Bauer series as well.

24 halved again (no spoilers)
If you’re familiar with 24 you know what to expect: a terrorist plot foiled by one man who will go to any lengths to defeat the menace. If you’re new to the series you’re going to get a terrorist plot foiled by one man who will go to any lengths to defeat the menace. And it all happens in one day, 24 hours with each episode covering one hour in real time.Well it did but it seems the powers that be want only twelve episodes or think us schmucks watching have no attention span so episode twelve covers thirteen hours (as with the last season this means winding the plot up in half an hour with the rest of the clock picking at the pieces of what we’ve watched previously). Consequently what stretches credibility and credulity over 24 hours has been trimmed of lean and moves at such a rapid pace so as to be completely ridiculous. This does mean it’s incredibly energetic but lacks any depth. Not only does this impact on the running around we expect but also sucks the life out of the political machinations we usually get from 24. Sinister and manipulative figures in the White House have little or no presence in the overall story but for a few tantalising titbits cut short or petering out to nothing whereas before they supplied intrigue and plot twists.Secondly its central figure is recast. No matter how much Eric Carter gets rushed around we still have fond memories of the great Jack Bauer and all seasons before. We’re use to a revolving door of cast in 24 so maybe if we got another series with Carter as the lead character we could get used to it. Sadly this incarnation of 24 is no more although there is a possibility of yet another reboot. If so there’s one idea that could help the show to success: How about 24 hours next time?

Good Series
Only 13 Episodes instead of 24 which is a bit disappointing but other than that it’s a very good series. Excellent on Blu-rayIt’s a pity they haven’t made a season 2

Quite refreshing to have an entirely new cast at the helm.
It feels quite refreshing to have an entirely new cast at the helm. This is still 24, very quickly getting into the tropes of rogue operations within CTU as a result of some kind of conspiracy. However, seeing how it plays out with different people keeps you on your toes... Bauer very much took part in shifty actions to save lives, however, we still don't know Carter well enough to see whether he holds these same values or whether he suffers some kind of PTSD (or even enjoys killing people). It makes him very quickly leaping to operations like stealing money from the Police so he can buy a terrorist cell list back from a former comrade that much more believable. Bauer would do this as part of a calculated plan, even in the first season we got the sense of a stone-faced professional in complete control. It's nice to genuinely question the motives of the protagonist, in a way we could never do with Jack now because we are certain of his unwavering loyalty. Then there are moments such as getting himself arrested on purpose "...I'm a black guy on a street corner, it's not going to be that hard" which nicely show the different options/tactics someone like that may choose based on their background. My main criticism is the characters don't quite feel strong enough, to begin with anyway. I hope it's more the actors finding their feet than anything. However, I do feel quite hooked to see where this is going.

Really loved it
Brilliant!! I thought this series may have lost something without Kiether but it is excellent, would recommend to anyone new to the series and anyone who enjoyed the previous 8!!
