Woolbuddy Needle Felting 100% Woolen Mat (Light green)

As someone who has been needle felting for a number of years, I was in need of replacing my worn out foam pad for my needle felting projects. I love this needle felting wool pad-perfect portable size for needle felting on the go! Pros: 1. Small but not too small-works for most needle felting projects 2. Portable-no worries of it breaking when stuffing it in a purse or schoolbag 3. Hardy-will stand up to tens of thousands of needle pokes 4. Needles won't catch/rip up the wool mat 5. Needle felting projects catch quickly, allowing for faster needle felting 6. Minimal shedding of fibers on the mat Cons: 1. Small amounts of wool do get caught in the mat as they are both fibrous materials-this is easily remedied by turning your project often and using smaller needle pokes-project fibers can be removed with a short tooth comb or with fingers. 2. Has a tendency to warp slightly when doing a lot of projects-easily remedied by working the mat back and forth occasionally to restore shape.

I'm new to felting so I needed alllll the things to get started. This is by far the most useful of all the tools I loaded up on. I took this with me in the car to work on my project and it was the perfect size to bring along, not too heavy, and thick enough to protect the surface below it. I don't felt without it whether I'm on the go or in my craft room.

I was using a camp mat as my backing for needle felting and I kept having to throw it out so often. This is a great investment if you are going to be doing a lot of needle felting. I make bycocket hats for a medieval re-creation group called the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA). I have been using this for months and it works great.

I make both 3D figures and I do “2D wool painting”, this mat is fantastic for my figures to add the density needed for them. The mat does collect fibers (others’ photos look similar enough to mine) so that’s why I prefer it for the core building because it doesn’t really matter if there’s color transfer, but for my more fine tuned pieces, my 2D work and the finishing touches/outermost layers on all work; I don’t like to use this mat. I have a DIY thing I did with a small wood tray and a cut of memory foam from my mattress topper that works wonderfully alongside this woolbuddy mat to cover all of my needs Cleaning the mat of the fibers is easy, you do get some of the mat fibers up when you clean, but a tiny tiny amount. Since I do 3D figures, I just collect it all for my “scraps” and use those for my core work too. To clean, I just pinch at it, or I’ll use the other end of my needles to scratch it up, quite similar to removing hair from a hairbrush. To wrap it up, I’d definitely recommend it, it seems like a mat that will last a long time (I’ve had it for about a month so far).

I brought this to make a felt cat for my daughters 30th birthday, she loved it and I had a great time making it! I've fallen in love ❤️ with felting and even purchased a larger woolbuddy to do landscape felting. This craft is so portable and relaxing 😌. Easy to use and easy to clean up.

This is so much better than a sponge, especially when felting flat shapes. The needle doesn’t disappear into it so the felt stays together really well. I really like this!

Produit tout à fait conforme aux photos et à la description. Je l’ai testé hier et il est agréable d’usage. Pas très grand mais suffisamment pour faire des petits travaux (dans mon cas, petit animal) et pratique pour travailler sur ses genoux. Peut-être que sur une surface lisse il glisserait car il est fait en laine feutrée. Je prévois d’avoir un morceau de tapis antidérapant pour cette éventualité. Pas le plus important, mais la couleur aussi est conforme et jolie.
