I sized up for the right fit 👍🥾🥾
After a week of shopping online for a pair of boots 🥾🥾, I went with these. I wear a size 9. Sometimes I can wear a 8.5. It just depends on the shoe. I'm a Hoka walking shoe fan. I like the Koka brand because they are heel to toe walking shoes. I can't wear shoes that cause my toes to shoot to the toe of the shoe as I walk. I read reviews that these have a slight heel on them. Yes, they do have a heel. They did exactly what I hoped for. They walk heel to toe. So walking heel to toe is good for me. Amazon suggested I size up to a 10 based on reviews of these boots running smaller. I did order the 10. I'm glad I did. The boots fit perfectly. I took an old pair of my Hoka inner soles and added them to the inside of the boots just for extra cushion. They fit good. 👍 They're made well. So many brands are running smaller due to being made in so many different countries. It's really hard to know what will fit anymore. If it weren't for the fact of the suggestion to size up I would be spending time doing so many returns. Thankfully I took the advice.👍 Update: 5/12/2025 I wore these in Alaska and they were so comfortable. I'm so happy I bought them. 👍 I didn't even have to worry about breaking them in. They kept my feet warm and dry. They have good support.

BEST HIKING SHOES!!!!
I absolutely hate breaking in shoes and saw online that you don’t really have to do that for the Moab’s. I was skeptical, but they worked AMAZING for about a week of hiking in Olympic and Mount Rainer National Parks. They were a little waterproof, but dried super quickly when my feet got wet. The traction is perfect for hiking and my feet were thankful to have such a comfortable shoe!

Great for snow!
This is a great shoe for walking in snow! It’s comfortable and keeps my feet dry. Great quality as I had my previous pair at least 10 years!

Good ventilated hiking boots
I am an avid hiker that overheats easily and also needs to wear mid hiking boots because my ankles roll easily which has caused one of them to break and had a serious ATFL tear. I feel safe in mid hiking boots and they protect my ankles. It's hard though to find mid hiking boots that are not waterproof or what they call ventilated. Waterproof is great if you hike in the winter or where there will be water crossings. However, if you hike in hot climates you probably want a ventialted pair. I am grateful for these mid boots by a quality company that I know makes good boots. They provide air circulation, ankle protection and are comfortable right out of the box. They have padding around the ankles and do not rub. I love the color combination which was an added bonus. I have high ankles and need a bigger toe box and these boots have a larger toe box and open wide enough to get my foot in them which can be a problem with some boots. Oh, btw, I have about 8 pair of hiking boots so I have a lot to compare to. I highly recommend these to those of you that hike in any climate that gets hot. These boots also have good grip which is important on all types of terrain.

I think these are the best shoes i've ever bought
Comfortable, comfortable, comfortable right out of the box! I normally wear an 8.5 medium width shoe. After reading all the comments, I decided to go with a 9w They fit perfect. I bought them to wear next year on a road trip out west. Honestly, I thought I would have to break them in, but you don't.

Go MOAB--It's worth it.
My wife loves these (true to size and ready to go right out of the box, no break-in required), and this was the best price I could find. (Wished I got myself a pair.)

Best ever!
Most comfortable hiking shoes ever! I literally can wear them on a hike on day 1...no break in period. I love my Merrills.

Very disappointed… just like everyone else.
First let me say, I really like Merrell. Yes they are pricey, but they last for years. I’ve owned several pairs of these shoe, and even one pair of their boots. (The boots are wearing down sole wise and I can’t seem to find anymore. Very sad.) I know there are several versions of this shoe and that they change the design and part of the style. However, I am pretty disappointed. I have owned three previous versions of this exact shoe and i’ve been happy. I have had bunion surgery on my left foot, and have a bunion on my right foot. My right foot is painless, so surgery is not in my foreseeable future. I need the soft flexibility around my joints to prevent pain in my surgery and my bunion areas. Shoes tend to rub and get painful. That part of the design has not changed. Happy in that regard! However…. They have seriously changed their insoles and it is extremely disappointing!!! The soles collect/absorb all the cooties from your feet, and they start to smell like an old funky tennis shoe that’s been used in sports. I had high hopes that it wouldn’t be the case with this new pair but the smell was there within one week of wearing them. One week!! They also changed the arch support in their insoles. There’s virtually none. Boooooooooo. The overall fit and feel is tighter also. I have VERY skinny feet. I’m a size 7. So for me to say it’s too tight means something. I usually struggle to find shoes that are narrow enough. I def feel like I should have gotten a 7 1/2 even tho I’m a 7 in all my other Merrells. I also feel like the sole itself isn’t the same density wise. It feels more plastic-y. Feels much harder rather then feeling stronger or supportive. The sole on these def disappoint. I’ll have to hunt and find an insole that has arch support and doesn’t absorb feet cooties… but that will be hard because of the inner design of the shoe. I’ve even tried buying other Merrell insoles but can only find insoles for their boots. Will I stop wearing merrell? No. Will I “try before I buy” in the future? Yea. 100% they’re too pricey to not be happy. (Tip/trick = when these get worn out…. Remove the insole and put a cheap thin insole from dollar store in it…. BOOM! You now have “take out the trash shoes” and “gotta check the mail or run to the car real quick to get something” shoes. Removing the insole means if you have in socks, especially thick ones, you can just slide the suckers on and run out real quick.)
