60's Pop Music
I love 60's pop because it always tickles my fancy. Freddie and the Dreamers was a group I had to add to my collection. I wasn't there for them when they were at there peak, but a 60 year time delay doesn't diminish my love for this kind of Pop! Thanks!

the F&D version is no better than a cover band version seen in your local ...
While many would view Freddie & The Dreamers as a minor footnote to the British Invasion of the mid 60's, the band nonetheless presents an interesting musical style unmatched by many of the period bands, with the exception of Herman's Hermits. Freddie & Co. presents two distinct styles in this collection, the earliest of which is exemplified by the hits "I'm Telling You Now", "You Were Made For Me", " "Do The Freddie" and "I Think Of You", a lighthearted music hall sing-song style with standard British Invasion combo backing. The second style, my preference, begins with "Over You", "I Understand" and extends through the hit "A Little You". This style includes more orchestration and a more standard vocal style. The shortcoming in this set is the rejection of the concept of less is more. Several attempts at covering classic rock and roll hits such as "See You Later Alligator" and "Short Shorts", the Royal Teens 1958 novelty hit, seem very amateurish. Especially egregious in this regard is the cover of the Barrett Strong classic, "Money". Having been exposed to the Beatles version for so many years, the F&D version is no better than a cover band version seen in your local pub. While 29 tracks is very generous in this collection, the album would have been better as a whole if the covers had been omitted. That said, Freddie & The Dreamers presents a nice alternative to much of the harder edged British bands of the time period. The mixing and engineering on the set is quite good.

A WHOLE LOT MORE THAN THE GREAT CHART HITS
Always liked the British Invasion music. Aside from the great chart hits by this group there are some very outstanding treasures to be found in this collection. I highly recommend this CD by Freddie & the Dreamers.

Enjoyable CD
Enjoyable CD featuring the best of Freddie & The Dreamers music - a reminder of the 1960's pop music, well performed and entertaining!Somewhat at a loss why the seller did not send package by post, but used a carrier instead - but worth the extra wait.

Great album by a great group
I realised I did not own a F&tD's album, on the death of my good friend,(their lead guitarist), so set out to rectify the omission. It has ALL their hits, plus a couple I'd not heard before. Well satisfied.
