An engrossing character-driven novel set in the world of community theater
I loved this book, and I found myself identifying with the struggles of the characters. The story has a wide-ranging cast of characters, who face a lot of modern-day problems---aging parents, MeToo-type scandals, encroaching irrelevance, struggles with creativity, star-crossed love affairs. But there's a great sense of humor at play as well. I've always thought the theater world would be a great setting for a novel, and the novel really delivers on this front. I also liked the Memphis setting, and now I want to go there.I took my time reading it, and I looked forward to re-entering the world of these characters every night when I picked up my Kindle. I was sad when it was over.
