This Time Tomorrow: A Novel

Read BEFORE your parent passes away
I read this AFTER my father died, and even though he was very different from Alice’s, we would have both benefitted from my having read this. I would have asked more meaningful questions, thought about things differently…hopefully, understood our relationship better. As far as the writing itself: fresh and beautiful. I loved how Alice, and the author, stayed true to Leonard with no miracles or tidy endings. It’s a book that will stay with me - I read a lot so that’s quite a compliment. And I am gifting it to my best friend and my sister who do not appreciate time-travel stories, but I think will appreciate this. Oh - and to my my daughter who turns 40 this year!

A Great Read!
I really loved this book it made me think about my time with my Granddaddy and Grandma. About being able to get all your questions answered. To be able to re-live the good times and extend them. The relationship the main character had with her father was beautiful. I wished I had that type of relationship with my father. Everyone wishes that they could go back to yesterday to make sure not one word or question was unsaid and unanswered. It may have been even harder to let go if you had more time. But, at least you could say you made each moment count. That you were able to say everything you wanted to say without getting choked up. To be able to get that extra hug and kiss in would be such a blessing. The friend that Alice had from high school to adult hood was the best of best friends. No judgement, no backstabbing, no gossip telling her secrets, or making her feel crazy. The friend just gave guidance, help, and advise past and present. Very well written and it had some crazy twists. My first time reading a book by this author and it won't be my last. My money was well spent.

A reasonably good time travel themed novel.
When I read the publisher's brief synopsis of this novel, I immediately purchased the Kindle version because I am a fan of this genre. I thought it to be a novel twist on the time travel theme, and I did enjoy the book. However, I didn't love the book. These time travel novels tend to be very exciting and move quickly through the plot. That was not the case with "This Time Tomorrow." I felt the plot dragged on in the last half of the story, and I don't believe that the story was well served by the protagonist's pity party attitude throughout the last half of the book. Nevertheless, I do recommend this book if you are a fan of the genre.

Honest
A book more about time than time travel. There was a truth in this story about life. Maybe we need many lifetimes to appreciate the love we have and experience with people. Live and learn!

Enjoyable
I’ve not read time travel books and enjoyed this one. The main character is motivated by her love for her father, which I found endearing. There were parts that I skimmed through because there is a lot of inner dialog. Too much, really. And I would’ve liked to see Alice be more focused and determined in her personal goals rather than being driven by changing natural outcomes. Still, I liked it.

BIG SURPRISE
I almost gave up after the first few chapters but when the story ricocheted ahead, I finished the book in two days. What a blast!

Enjoyable Read
A time-travel novel is not my usual read, but this was a very entertaining book. It makes you think back on the choices you have made in your life and maybe changes you would have made.

lack of character development
I liked the concepts, the cat, her best friend and her father. But Alice herself is listless and bland. There is no character arc. Writer needs to work on this. The book falls flat. How could she give up her house and the cat?

Interesting premise. Good character development
I think the last part of the novel was weak.

Plus que décevant
J'ai acheté ce roman parce que j'avais aimé les autres livres d'Emma Straub - mais là, quelle déception. Insipide, ennuyeux... c'est un roman à l'eau de rose.
