Ethique Nourishing Jasmine & Ylang Ylang Butter Block - Moisturizing Bar - Plastic-Free, Vegan, Cruelty-Free, Eco-Friendly, 3.53 oz (Pack of 1)

At first skeptical but really love it now. I was looking for palm oil free and plastic free lotion with no Cocamidopropyl betaine or Methyldibromo glutaronitrile (MDBGN) -like searching for hen's teeth. Finally found this company and really liked the product. You do need to use it right after showering or you can take a bit and rub in your hands to make it more viscous. I do wish it was bigger and lasted longer. I really enjoy the scent of Jasmine and Ylang Ylang but can understand why others may not. My skin has stayed very moisturized.Although it is different from the "moisturized" from J&J type lotions. Never been a fan of name brand lotions because of all the chemicals they have and how that leaches into your skin. So if you are will to sacrifice a bit of inconvenience for a product with few chemicals, no palm oil, and no plastic- this is awesome!

I don’t know how to rate this. It smells like citronella. I was expecting a floral scent. I can tell the formula is great, it smoothed over my skin, and it feels great. But I wish I could get a replacement seeing how expensive this stuff is and I wanted a pretty, floral scent..... maybe I got a bad batch.

I like the scent, love the packaging and approve of the ingredients. Mine is rather gritty, like the shea separated. I'll check other reviews to see if this is normal, or whether something happened with temperatures during storage or shipping.I just use this for my hands. I could never use it on my body, with the gritty feel. It's also disappearing pretty quickly! I'd buy it again, bur I am hesitant due to the high cost. Other brands work just as well, but this brand has the best no-waste packaging and the most fun scents.

So.... I was comparing this bar to a popular name brand version and here is how it stacks up. First, the scent is sort of waxy and earthy. Not entirely unpleasant, but I am not a fan. They could afford to use more essential oils to boost the fragrance to cover the waxy smell and make it more pleasant. It is not effective using it in the shower like some of the popular name brands. This needs to be used after you shower and after you have towel dried, while your skin is still damp. It needs to be emulsified between your palms and then applied to your skin, or it drags and pulls your skin; much like rubbing a bar of wax on your skin. It doesn’t just melt into your skin either. It sort of sits on top of your skin and leaves a slightly tacky, waxy film on your skin. This bar would probably hold up better in the heat than the popular brand though, because of it’s waxiness. It’s not all together unpleasant, but not what I prefer. I get the Ethique concept, but for the price you spend on this bar, I expected more in the formulation. Until I find a compatible formula, I will stick with the popular crown shaped lotion bar I have been using.

I love every ethique product I’ve tried! I stumbled across them while trying to be less wasteful in my life, these products last a long time so while it might seem like a large upfront cost for soap, lotion, shampoo or conditioner, in the long run you save money because you aren’t replacing them as often and are also helping the environment!I also love that the ingredients in each product are beneficial to your skin/hair. Scent isn’t added for the sake of smell, if it smells like mint it’s because it’s helping you as well! If you’ve been on the verge of trying these products I highly recommend you do, just make sure you are taking care of the product as it states to get the most out of it( dint leave any of the bars exposed to running or pooling water).

The bar is a great plastic free option. I like the consistency, feel, and longevity. However, the jasmine is soooooo heavily scented that it gives me a headache. I’m not terribly sensitive to smell, but this is egregious. It’s super cloying, not complex, and just STRONG. I’m afraid to use it in public places, lest I give everyone else a headache too. I’ll try to use it up, esp since winter dry hands are starting. However, I might just cut losses and throw it away. This scent is AWFUL.

I was looking forward to this purchase. I love body butters and the Jasmine and Ylang Ylang was a great find. When I first opened it the scent was just as I expected. After it had been opened a little over a week (and even though I wrapped it back up) the scent was close to undetectable. With my first use I was surprised to experience small granules and it took much rubbing to get some of them to melt. Not quite like other body butters I have used. Thinking that maybe it should be warmed up I applied it after a hot tub bath, but no luck. I again used it after it sat another week (I guess I was hoping the problem would somehow have resolved), but again, very grainy and they just would not melt! Too bad, but I would not recommend this product.

I have been searching for a hand lotion cream, anything that actually moisturizes and isn’t greasy and doesn’t come in plastic. So many great products out there in plastic! Ugh! This is incredible. It smells heavenly. It’s oily as you warm up the bar, but then just soft incredible hands. My only complaint is that it need something to wrap it in. Right now using wax paper. Maybe a muslin bag? Idk but definitely will be purchasing more
