Sekonda Altitude Men’s 43mm Quartz Watch with Analogue Display, and Leather Strap

Bought to replace the same watch I lost on holiday. This is a functional and inexpensive watch which looks ok and has a clear and legible face. Must be good if I've bought a second one.

Excellent watch. Easy.to-read dial, large, nice combination of colours and sturdy My only (personal) complaint is the strap length, however I am very large so anticipated this; I just wish the popular / well-known watchmakers would offer options for strap length when buying.

Sekonda have always had a reputation as affordable and reliable watches that can be worn for general, everyday use. Sekonda were a huge British brand in the 1960s, 70s and 80s. As with many of these brands, manufacturing was shifted to China to reduce costs. They are put together using Japanese Miyota quartz movements. The holding company that owns Sekonda is the same company that also owns Accurist. The company specialises in budget, high street watches. This Sekonda Altitude men’s watch measures 43mm. I opted for the brown version with brown face and matching brown leather strap. The watch doesn’t have many features, although there is a date display at the six o’clock position. The 24hour clock appears in smaller numbers below the main clock numbers. The body of the watch comes in a brushed bronze alloy. Personally, I’m not a fan of the brushed bronze finish, but this is purely down to personal preference. The knurling on the wider does the job, but it is a bit rough and ready. The watch has a slim and low profile when worn on the wrist. While this is a basic, entry level watch, you can’t really go wrong for forty five quid. To conclude, this is a classic looking, everyday wear watch that can be easily styled with a range of different outfits.

Sekonda is a well known brand for watches and this feels like a quality product from the outset. The presentation box is attractive and gives a good first impression. I opted for the brown face. This does look good, though found at times the time was difficult to read in poor light conditions. Even though the strap is of good quality, it is quite stiff. However, with more wear I expect it will soften and be a bit more comfortable. This is a well priced watch from a well known brand and hopefully should be long lasting. I am sure anyone would be delighted to receive this as a gift.

There is a reason why Sekonda have stood the test of time (poor pun intended), and that is simply because they make stylish yet understated high-quality watches, at a reasonable price. This Sekonda Altitude Quartz Watch is perfect for me, as I have a fitness tracker watch, which is great for everyday use, but for when I want something a bit more stylish (for work events, weddings, etc.) this does a perfect job. The leather used in the strap is nice and soft and doesn't need "breaking in" like some stiffer leather watch straps I have had in the past. The watch face is a good size, and the numbers are easy to see. The watch mechanism is smooth and silent. My only very minor negative gripe is that the box it came in is very simple and plain. It is a shame it doesn't come in a nice presentation box so it would make a nice gift. However, that may be why the price is so low, and therefore, it isn't going to affect my overall review rating of 5 stars.
