The dBASE Book Plus, 3rd Edition: A Companion to The dBASE Book

This book helps bring you up to date on the changes to dBASE Plus in it's many carnations, in particular, the changes in 11 and 12. It covers the newer ADO classes that allow you to use something other than the BDE to access databases and shows how to use them to make an application with them.In addition, it goes over new controls in those versions and includes newer information for making Web applications, using the new JSON control, RichEdit and RichText controls, the new DateTimePicker control and changes that have occurred to making and deploying applications, it touches on little know functionality like Callbacks for advanced programmers that give them better control over how Windows and dBASE interact. It goes over the improvements with using ActiveX components and includes some with the latest version of dBASE Plus, and how to use them.This book, as the others by this author, go into every nook and cranny to try and expose and show how to implement changes that have occurred since dBASE Plus 10, and I use for reference regularly.

This book covers the changes in the later versions of dBASE. Unfortunately it does not cover the latest version, dBASE 2019. But it gives excellent steo-by-step directions on using several of the features from the modern version and some great coding tips. Ken Mayer has been working with dBASE since the beginning and he really knows his stuff. If you are still using this classic software product, and want to be as productive as possible, this book is recommended.
