A striking little scale
It's early days yet as to usage but so far I'm very pleased with this scale. It is a striking piece of kit with its gloss black surface but keep in mind that it will show fingermarks. These are easily wiped off the glass though and scales are meant to be used anyway not just to look beautiful. One swipe of your finger and it turns on, a quick touch and the units of measurement dance from one type to another. Press and hold for a few seconds and the unit goes back off.Whilst it is on, the LED display lights up white on a bright blue background and is so clear and easy to read. No squinting trying to make out a measurement as a quick glance will show you exactly what you have on the scale. It has a tare feature so you can easily add in a measurement, touch the tare and have it re-set to zero ready to add in the next weight of ingredient.Despite being able to weigh up to 8000 grams the unit is low profile and slim and doesn't take up much room either when in use or when stored.Another plus was that this scale actually came with batteries; others that I had looked at didn't. It was great to be able to use it straight from the box without having to cast about for batteries.Speaking of batteries the battery door is quite easy to open and just slides across easily but it holds securely once it is closed.

Good Things Come in Small Packages
What i love is the accuracy of the scales, the size and in particular the range of weight measurement as I sometimes send parcels by post & this will weigh them all.Only one niggle is when putting an item such as a bowl on the scale and trying to zero the weight again takes a few presses, but this is such a minor point that 5 ****** is an easy rating to give.

Not accurate enough
Unfortunately, as I think this scale looks great, it is not really very accurate. It often shows just one or two grams below what you want, but adding a little more doesn't make a difference. For instance I wanted 170g of butter. I added butter and it showed 169g, I then added four more small pieces of butter and it still registered as 169g. I then tried on two other scales, and found that the four additional amounts I had added originally actually weighed 6 grams. This, in many instances would not be significant, but when you are baking you need precise weights. Adding and extra 5 or 10 grams of flour, for instance, can make an immense difference to the eventual outcome of the bake. So for now I am back to using an old pair of scales and will have to purchase a different set for future use.

Slim, stylish and reliable.
A little bit thicker than an iPad (and looks like one too) and tucks away nicely when not in use. It measures in both metric (gram and mL) and imperial (Lbs and oz and fl.oz), although confused why you'd need the volume measurements as they are the same as the mass i.e. 1g = 1mL so in my opinion a redundant feature. I guess it for those people who might read a recipe that says 100mL of water and wonder what the equivalent mass is.The scales have an auto-off and tare feature and I'd estimate that the measurements are probably good down to the nearest 2-3g, even though it has 1g increments. I've added a teaspoon of water with no increase in mass so be warned if you are looking for 1g resolution then you will probably need one of those nutritional balances. As a day to day scale for cooking I couldn't fault it and it has never let me down. Just keep a spare couple of CR3032 batteries at hand just incase they run out as there is no battery warning - the screen just gets progressively dimmer. Oh and it's back lit as well and very easy to clean with no buttons for dirt to get trapped in.

Accurate, no doubt about it
Very accurate scale. I've been using it as a postal scale, mostly, and it never failed me. The fact that it supports up to 8KG (a bit more, actually) is a big plus. The display is very easy to read, although the viewing angles may not be the best.It has a tare function, which basically resets the weight to zero. That allows you to measure only what's inside the package or bowl (like sugar, flour, etc). It also comes with two batteries that will last, for sure. This scale is beautiful, however, it's surface scratches quite easily. If it gets dirty, you can simply use any microfiber cloth to clean it and it will be as good as new. Scratches on the other hand, won't come out. It's not a big problem, you just have to be careful. You can use some transparent cling film to protect the surface if you're going to measure something heavy or hard like metal. That way it will retain it's appearence for years.

What a beauty!
This is a truly elegant piece of kitchen equipment. At first glance it looks like a 7" tablet, smooth, sleek and with a black top surface, you could almost imagine the whole think lighting up with recipe ideas. The Power/Tare and Unit selection buttons are not mechanical and a light tough is all you need for your selection. Accommodating both Metric and Imperial standards, it not only weighs kilos, grams, pounds and ounces, it also weighs liquid measures; ml and fl. oz. Delivered promptly the scale has lost one star as the low battery indicator was showing when first powered up. The button cells show a greasy smudge and possibly indicate that when they were installed at the point of manufacture, the installer had greasy fingers! All that to one side, the scale is great to look at either when off or on, offers great flexibility of operation, it was delivered promptly and above all was GREAT value.

Excellent.
This item was delivered by Amazon less than 24 hours after I ordered it on the free delivery tariff!!! Most impressed - thank you Amazon - yet again your service is second to none. The scales themselves are great, weighing not only in grams and ounces but also in fluid ounces and millilitres. Having an instruction booklet would seem to be a little over the top but there is also a useful calorie booklet.........hmm, how did they know I should be on a diet? They are certainly compact and will be easy to store but I am concerned that, although they will weigh up to 17lb, I'm not sure how you could get an item of this sort of size onto the scales and still see the readout. Christmas will be interesting! Lol
