Great little roaster with consistent results
UPDATE: I have changed my rating for this coffee roaster to 5 stars (as I had originally intended). If I had contacted the seller prior to writing my original review (below), I would have discovered how responsive they are and how dedicated they are to complete customer satisfaction. After I posted my original review, SPIRIT COFFEE contacted me and offered me a full refund of my purchase price. Since I like the CAFEMASY coffee roaster so much, I opted for a replacement CAFEMASY roaster instead.I’m looking forward to many years of perfectly roasted coffee from my new CAFEMASY roaster. And if I have any problems with it, I now know to get in touch with SPIRIT COFFEE for help from their excellent customer support team.I highly recommend this coffee roaster to anyone who is looking for an easy to use roaster that produces consistent roasts every time.ORIGINAL REVIEW:I purchased this roaster to replace my trusty 30 year old Hearthware roaster. I had been looking for a similar roaster for years, when on a random search for roasters on Amazon the CAFEMASY popped up. It looks very similar to my old Hearthware roaster, but it has an additional dial and LED display, whereas the Hearthware had one dial and preset roasting and cooling times. The thought of being able to exactly adjust roast and cooling times was enough to convince me to spend ~$150 for the CAFEMASY right away.I probably got around 30-40 mixed automatic and manual roast cycles out of this roaster with great results. Then one day last week, the roaster stopped during the roast cycle, started a repetitive 3-beep code, and displayed E1 on the display. I had to discard the batch that was in progress, let the roaster completely cool down, and tried another roast. Same error occurred while roasting. I unplugged the roaster, then tried a few more automatic and manual cycles - with only 10 grams of beans - and the same error occurred each time.

Too loud!
I use first and second crack to guide my roasting. I couldn't hear them over the sound this roaster generates.

NOT WORTH THE MONEY!
Purchased in June 2024 (7 month review). It's an advanced popcorn popper, made for roasting coffee beans. It does an excellent job. Use it outside or in the garage, the fumes are not something you want indoors. It is loud. It only roasts enough beans to make just under 2 full pots of coffee. It is also so much better than an actual air popcorn popper. But.. the components used to build it are cheap chinese junk! I've used it about every other day for for just short of 7 months and it has crapped out. my true value consideration is $35, with a variance up to $70. If it only cost $70 or less, I would be buying another one right now. But $159 is a total rip-off.

Perfect for those who just want to roast coffee, not not do a deep dive on the intricies of roasting
I used my Easy Roast SR-700 for 8 years and I loved it because once I dialed in my favorite roasting program I could just turn it on and let it do its thing. I did have to do the deep dive once but for then on it was turn it on and leave it alone. It finally bit the dust so I looked at everything available focusing on ease of use. I liked that this one was half the price of an Easy Roast and had an "Auto" function so I bought it about 2 months ago and have have used it a few times on my bi-weekly roasts. Auto works fine but I like a little lighter roast (Auto goes to about city +) and I couldn't get it to allow me to reduce the auto time so I just press the "COOL" button 2 minutes early which stops the roast and it works perfectly. I love the cool function because the coffee can go directly into the bag after cooling. For those complaining about it being noisy, do you also complain about your vacuum cleaner being noisy when you use it? They are comparable and its only for about 15 minutes to get freshly roasted coffee. Worth it in my opinion.

Perfect Entry Level Home Roaster
If you're interested in Home Roasting, this could be a great Start. I used it to roast about 4 batches of beans the other day. I think I did 250g doses and it produced fairly even roast profiles. Very impressive for this price range and form factor. The roasts are programmed with a heating function and a subsequent cooling function. My goal for my next roast is to take the coffee out of the roaster as soon it's done roasting and cool it separately in a metal mesh colander with a fan below. Supposedly it's important to stop the roast and cool it down quickly for maximum flavor potential.

Freshly roasted coffee beans at an affordable price.
Great. Used it at default settings gave me sweetest coffee i ever tasted. Freshly roasted coffee beans is the way to go for that coffee tasting adventure. I think freshly roasted coffee beans could be best consumed within 24 hours of roasting. Also light roasted beans gives coffee tasting adventure a whold new light especially for Single Origin beans.

Cheap product
Worked for 10 minutes then stopped working. I followed all instructions on the manual. I think it’s just a cheap quality product. Not worth the hassle of buying then having to worry about returning it.

messy, chaff screen not tall enough and does not fit quite right
great little roaster, does a beautiful job, no complaint there. what is seriously bumming me out is that the screen meant to contain the chaff is not tall enough to catch all the detritus. the stuff is blown out all over and leaves a clingy mess in a two foot radius. i've tried lowering the fan, still having to clean up the mess. these skins are oily so it's work. don't know if i can still return, going to try, sad to have to do so. solution- not returning because it's a good product so i bought a medium sized hand-held vac update- vac didn't help, returning this little roaster. i'm pretty sure this one is defective because the amount of chaff it blows out is unreal. sticky, oily chaff is time consuming and frustrating as it's blown over a large part of my kitchen, just not worth it. sad, because other than that, it's a great little roaster
