I bought 3 of these. One for each of my good friends. It has a very loud sound and a bright light that I believe would be useful in scaring off an attacker. It is small enough for your keychain, pocket or purse and is lightweight. It has a nice sleek design that is inconspicuous. The alarm is louder than most of these pocket alarms and will not go off accidently. It is very simple to use and I am sure they will get many years of use out of it but hopefully they won’t need it. It seems to be very durable and the function of it is simple. It is not sensitive to go off without thought. It does take a little bit of strength to pull the pin but not too much and easy to turn off by just pushing the pin back in all the way till it clicks and alarms stops. I am going to be buying more in the near future for my family.

I just got this Her Time personal alarm. I put my hand over the 'speaker' part and pulled and its loud, even with my hand over the speaker... kind of a shrill sound. the light is bright and both would be highly effective in a dangerous situation. The only thing I am not too keen on is the 4 tiny screws to put new batteries in. BUT......the batteries should last a long time. The one thing I do like about this one, and I have looked and read about others... the "pin" to activate is great.. it does not disconnect from the unit, where many of them do and you have to fiddle to get it back on to stop it. This is just a pull and push thing. Will attach to my handbag and I was reading other reviews here, I may get one for the car for when I am walking without my handbag. Highly recommend.

Bought this to walk around the streets of New York when we went to a Broadway show. I can say that I’ve never had to use it, which is a good thing! We tried alarm one time. That’s all we needed to do! It was so loud it hurt our ears! Hopefully it would be a great deterrent if you ever really needed it. I keep it strapped to my backpack.

I needed something to have on me for my walks. I thought this would be great for scaring away dogs. Too many people let their dogs run loose and if I meet an aggressive one I'd like to try this instead of spraying something harmful in its eyes. It is super easy to use and extremely loud. It should work just fine.

Purchased this for my Gbaby who is headed off to College. Wanted something she could carry to feel peace of mind during those walks to and from the parking lot to her dorm/car/etc. this item is sleek easy to carry, has several features that comes in handy.
