I’ve been using the **SmallRig Camera Cage 4022 for Panasonic LUMIX S5 II /S5 IIX on my Panasonic S5 II for my shooting rigs (church livestreams, weddings, event work), and it’s been a dependable backbone of my setup. The fit and build are excellent — it hugs the body snugly, gives full access to ports and battery compartments, and adds great mounting flexibility without getting bulky. I particularly appreciate the two NATO rails (top & side) and dual cold-shoe mounts: they’ve allowed me to mount microphones, LEDs, monitors and handles in ways that make my handheld and run-and-gun work much smoother. One of the standout features for me has been the anti-twist 3-point locking design, which keeps the camera secure and stable in the cage even when I’m switching from tripod to gimbal to handheld. No unwanted movement, no fuss. If I had to mention a small note: the cage does add a bit of weight and size compared to running the camera bare — so for ultra-light travel setups you’ll feel it. But for my work where rigs, monitors and audio gear are attached, this cage feels like the perfect platform. Overall, for anyone serious about rigging their S5 II for professional work, this SmallRig 4022 cage is reliable, well-designed, and built to support real production use. I’m glad I made the upgrade.

Fits well and feels sturdy. Unlike some cages that feel bulky, this one fits the camera snugly and is hardly noticeable. The added protection it provides from being a full cage gives some ease of mind for the inevitable camera drop. Small rig nailed it with the cage.

EDIT: I had mentioned in the original review below that arca swiss was an issue on gimbals but there was a workaround with getting an arca swiss mount that loosen enough to just slip the cage on and off a gimbal. I have looked and every single cage has this issue so this is not something I can fault smallrig for. ORIGINAL: I just want to say I love this cage it is great quality at a great price, and I prefer how it protects the top of camera fully vs the other one which goes around the shutter. What is good and bad is that the cage extends the grip by adding depth below the battery so when holding it it feels great to have a little more room but you can not take it off some gimbals quickly. I use the DJI RS2 and the extended part on the battery stops me from taking it off the gimbal the whole point of wanting a built-in arca base plate was just to move quicker from setup to setup. Overall it's great but I think for many of us who use this camera on a gimbal this will really bother you. I will be going with the other model.

I've been wanting a cage for my Panasonic S5 II ever since I got it. This cage is very sturdy and comes with 2 cold shoe mounts to mount my Rode VideoMic and my light for ghost hunting! Has a built in Alan key for locking the cage in place
