This is probably one of the best motorcycle-related purchases I've made
This is probably one of the best motorcycle-related purchases I've made. I've just returned from a short Euro trip and had chance to put this through its paces. I only really used it for bike-to-bike intercom so have barely scratched the surface of what this kit is capable of. As a bike-to-bike intercom I was massively impressed with how good it was. The claimed 900 yard distance probably isn't far off the mark. I'd suggest that's a straight, line of sight distance test, but all the same we were able to chat quite normally at French autoroute speeds at normal distances. Even when we did get slightly separated by other traffic and the distances increased to a few hundred yards and we were out of sight of each other we could still communicate with only a slight bit of crackle. Charge times are good. I didn't time it but I'm sure it didn't take more than a couple of hours to charge the battery from flat. From a full charge we used them for 3hrs to the ferry and most of the next day travelling to Normandy then back down toward Rennes, probably 400-500 miles worth of constant use over 8ish hours. I did link it in with my phone (which is my sat nav) and it was crystal clear, as you'd expect given the above. I also used it to receive a phone call on the way home and audio was exactly the same as you get on a car hands free kit at motorway speeds. No shouting, no crackling. Might be worth pointing out that all of this use was whilst wearing custom moulded ear plugs, so the volume capabilities are also excellent. In fact when I played music through the speakers you definitely wouldn't want it on full blast. The speakers, mic and wiring etc are all made of decent components and were easy to install. The speakers are much thicker than the ones you get with the cheap kits and it's clear to see why. Having said that, they fit nicely into my flip-front AGV helmet and caused no comfort issues whatsoever. The mic boom is long enough to tuck up under the chin bar. I had the mic set just to the left of my mouth; it wasn't necessary for it to be right in front of it and/or in contact. In fact, I was still able to hear my riding partner before he'd got to grips with the kit and hadn't tucked the mic inside the chin bar! A lot of wind noise but it was still better than our previous experiments with radios and helmet speaker kits. All in all, a fantastic piece of kit that made navigating, passing the time on boring motorway slogs and slagging of c*** drivers a breeze! Buy one, you won't regret it!

It is probably the best purchase of the year for me
I wanted to write this review after I had used the kit for 6 months. It is probably the best purchase of the year for me. I originally bought it solely for the Bluetooth music function so I cannot comment on the intercom ability, but i imagine from the sound quality of the speakers during phone calls it would be equally as fantastic. The Speakers are easy to install, simply thread them through the inside of your helmet lining and you are ready to go. The construction is robust, seemingly totally weather proof and survived a few enduro track falls with zero mechanical damage, just light scratches (This is impressive when you consider I have had to replace 2 helmets after falls with the Sena attached) I use a separate microphone tucked into my helmet, this is connected to my helmet camera, I have noticed that when voice recording on rides I cannot hear the music from the Sena in the background. This is very useful as the speakers can be set to a high volume if riding in winds and you would still be able to hear and communicate with other riders or record to a separate helmet mic with zero noise interference. This will 100% change your riding experience for the better, even if you just use it to connect to your phone for answering calls or for playing music. Without doubt this has actually changed my riding experience, just being

Pretty good, though I have a few problems
Pretty good, though I have a few problems: mainly that balancing audio levels seems to be a bit off, with certain of the most annoying pitches being really loud and more reasonable notes being quiet, so you turn it up and get a giant PING in your ear. And it's difficult to shoulder-check because it hangs so far off the helmet. NOTE: This does not ship with the corded mic, so you're stuck with the arm mic. Aside from those complaints, it's pretty good. Great battery life, connects pretty easily, easy to use while wearing winter gloves.

Really great intercom system
First off, some background to why we opted for the Sena SMH10. After looking at all the reviews and flagship models currently on the market we opted for the Cardo Scala Rider G9x Power Set, I may not be the most hi tech savvy person in the world but this unit is a nightmare, it never once paired up automatically so we could talk, every time we had to go through the hassle of selecting channels and trying to get a connection. While riding along the connection would just drop out for no reason when you tried to reconnect you had constant issues. The sound quality in both helmets when paired was ok up to 45mph, but at 70mph the speakers were terrible and I could hardly hear a thing no matter what the volume. One replacement on and customer service turning it into a month long science project I gave up and returned them for a full refund. Not impressed after paying £400 So this didn’t help in finding another intercom, however with a trip to Spain looming we needed to bite the bullet, what a difference in the Sena SMH10, first off, charge the units up whilst fitting the speakers and mic’s into the helmets, a quick firmware update, clip the unit on press the toggle and phone button together and were talking within two seconds, very clear sound through the speakers (after minor adjustments) with loads of volume even at very high speeds (70mph+). Changing the settings to suit your own preference is easy; the only thing that Sena could improve on is the foam covering the mic’s to reduce wind noise. A good tip to start off with is, when looking for bike intercoms as we found out, look at your helmet first, mine is a Shoie GT Air which is very quiet and the other unit was fitted to a Arai which is not so quiet which does make a difference in filtering out ambient noise. Really great intercom system, £75 cheaper than the G9x, loads more clarity, volume and easier to use, I would recommend it to anyone.

Very dissatisfied with product and can’t return. Angry customer.
Boughtfor my partner but by the time I gave him it and he had it fitted, it was too late to return damaged. Bad quality and emailed the company but they never got back to me. A lot of money so very angry.

Excellent.
I bought this after some friends and I had tried the Interphone. We found this over complicated to operate and flakey at best when trying to connect 4 or more riders. One of my friends just decided to purchase the Sena and I followed suit expecting the same problems to occur with any Bluetooth intercom. Not so......... I won't go into detail because you can find numerous reviews on the Web. We've yet to try and connect more than 2 riders so I can't comment on this feature yet. There is a little bit of wind noise created by the unit fixed to the lid. The speakers don't have a great deal of Bass but can exceed safe volume levels. My buddy uses other more expensive speakers with good mid range and Bass. Crystal clear voice / noise cancelling. This Sena gets my 5 STARS It's worth every penny. Easy to use and adds to enjoyment of riding bike. Update: 4 Units connected and work successfully. They seek to reconnect automatically when range exceeded. I've got the speed dial programmed so if we do go out of range I can still make a quick call to my buddy using the cell phone network. One of our group has just purchased the latest Sena which claims to connect more than four riders (using the same model) although we did get his new unit paired and connected (total of 5 now) which worked some of the time. Possibly pushing the envelope of what is achievable with our existing units.

Great bit of kit.
These are expensive, but excellent. I've used radios with bar mounted PTT buttons before but these are far easier to use and give a much higher audio quality than any radio I've used. They come paired with each other from the factory so once fitted, all you have to do is turn them on then simply push the big dial once to connect the intercom feature and that's it; two way communication with no further button pressing involved. At higher speed of 60-70mph, the audio is still clear, though you may have to turn the volume up a bit depending on how loud your bike is and how well sealed your helmet is. Easy to fit, easy to use and an excellent buy.

Loud enough but distorts easily and little with little to no bass
Loud enough but distorts easily and little with little to no bass. Great distance between riders and the battery life at the moment is great. Once you get used to the controls they are really ergonomic and intuitive. In summery overall good but the speakers do let them down. the music is also slightly louder in the left speaker than the right.
