Great way to get solid crimps at a low price
When I first started shopping for a crimper I was initially turned off by the reviews I read on hydraulic die crimpers. Many complaints of improper fitting dies and leaking hydraulic fluid led me to purchase a die-less indent crimper. I went with the TEMCO TH0012 and have been quite happy with it. I've done around 10 crimps and they have came out tight and looked pretty good. As I test I cut one of the lugs open after performing an indent crimp and was not impressed. I did not achieve the cold weld I was after and strands could be pulled out easily after being cut. With more crimps in my future I decided to find a better tool. After doing some more research I purchased this crimper. I chose it over some of the others because it's 16 ton rating and extra die vs similar models. Today it arrived and I put it to the same test with much better results. In the pictures I crimped a SELTERM 4 gauge lug onto an EWCS 4 gauge cable. Initially I tried the 25mm die but it was too large and barely touched the lug. I stepped down 16mm which was the next smaller in the kit. I was concerned it would be too small so before the dies touched I released the pressure and rotated the lug then continued for a full crimp. The result wasn't the prettiest thing but it did not have "wings" like many I have seen in other reviews. Next, the real test: I clamped it in my vise and cut the lug in half with a hack saw. After cleaning up the cross section with file I can say I am very pleased with the results. I cannot see any individual strands. I achieved the cold weld I was after!

First looks and thoughts. (Update posted)
This review is very preliminary since I just received the crimping tool yesterday. The tool comes as pictured but with 12 dies and a packet of seals and "O"-rings. Unfortunately it does not have a operation manual with schematic plus parts list if the time comes to replace the seals. It is a heavy duty looking setup and quite a value if it is reliable. Time will tell.I like the large collection of die sizes from 10mm to 300mm. Though it would be nice to have offered additional die sets with different crimp designs and possibly a shear die for purchase. I plan to use the crimper on aluminum wire rope ferrules initially and the hexagonal stock dies are not the best design for that. I know the unit is marketed as use in battery wire and electrical terminal crimping but the hydraulic ram does not care what use you put it too. Therein is why I would like to see add on die kits. Even a few smaller hex dies like the 8mm and 6mm that other kits have would be nifty.Update. Have now used the crimper on 3/8" ferrules for 3/8" wire rope. One end with a hook, the other just a eye. I used the 185mm die and it seems to be good. After crimping twice per ferrule (8 crimps in total). I experienced no bad issues with the device. Can not say how much strength the cable will support, since bit hard to test properly, but for simple usage I expect it will be adequate. All in all great deal.

Works as described; Needs more die sizes.
This review will be short and sweet because this crimper gets the job done. I bought this to make my own cables for my camper rebuild where I needed to crimp about 16 pairs of cables of varrying size for my system. Every single crimp is rock-solid and holds great. I used it one handed on the bench so I could hold the cable in the lug. It's easy to use and works like a charm. My only complaint, which is the reason for the 4-star rating, is that for crimping 2/0 gauge (which comes out to 53.5mm2), you have to use the 50 mm2 die. While it doesn't seem like that big of a deal but, when crimping, it left a flattened piece sticking out which doesn't look great. Also, other reviews said to be careful not to compress down too much or the things start breaking and I sometimes felt that I was really pressing my luck. At the end of the day, my lugs look great (after the shrink wrap tubing) and, if I was really motivated, I could grind off the piece that juts out and it would eliminate the problem.I'd buy it again in an instant. This is a great product.

Came recommended from my Boat Mechanic
This item came recommended by my boat mechanic. I used it to make battery and power distribution feeder lugs for a boat project I was working on. This thing worked like a charm. Easy to use and only had to make one practice lug to get the hang of it. I like to keep a little set of nippers on hand because sometimes the Tinned Lugs will leave a very thin and sharp piece of extruded tin on the lugs. I just nip them off and heat shrink the lug and wire. Highly Recommend.

I slid a shim along the side of the die and it worked great. I am very happy with the purchase
I have only had this for a couple of weeks but it has worked flawlessly. Tool appears to have a solid construction. A variety of uses: crimping battery cables, making security cables, making swage lines (for my boat). The dies are not a precise fit into the tool, so it takes a little practice to have your crimps look "pretty". I slid a shim along the side of the die and it worked great.I am very happy with the purchase ... If things change I will return to review (I do not anticipate that occuring)
