A great book for anyone but especially small children.
My daughter’s current favorite book. She carries it around holding it up to us saying “People! People!” Lots of great pictures of children and families of different shades. Just ordered two more to replace the well loved copy we already have.I'd like to add that a board book version would be great.

Perfect for preschoolers and adults alike!
I've never felt compelled to write a review on a book before (and I buy a lot of books). This book is absolutely perfect. It is so innocently written, geared toward appreciating all our beautiful colors, without a heavy-handed moral message. Exactly what is needed to help foster a natural sense of appreciation for all people, and a great starter book for discussions about race and ethnicity. We are leaving this one out on the coffee table, and I wish I had bought the hard-back copy. In fact, I might still do that.

Exactly what I needed!
My 3 year old daughter started commenting on people's skin color and this book has been amazing in helping begin an age appropriate conversation about the topic. The book is filled with beautiful photographs of people of all skin tones, with simple words and smiling faces. Kids, friends, families... all are featured in the book and my daughter loves looking through it over and over. I highly recommend this book.

And because the adjectives used to describe various shades are nice additions to his vocabulary
My 2.5 yr old son asks for this book all the time and practically has it memorized. And because the adjectives used to describe various shades are nice additions to his vocabulary, it also encourages him to be fascinated and delighted when he notices the uniqueness of skin tones, rather than the usual type of labeling/categorizing that kids (and adults) tend to do.

Appreciate beautiful skin color diversity
What a nice book to get a young reader to appreciate the amazing array of skin colors of humans. The writer uses words like "rosy", "cocoa" and "golden" to describe skin tones, and the photographs are of real people doing real things.
