pulling the curtains back on flight mayhem
Jodie Foster carries this film with able support from Peter Sarsgaard, Sean Bean, Greta Scacchi and others ... it is a tense ride that you don't want to know too much about so that it has its full impact. Perhaps just to know that it is about a woman whose child mysteriously vanishes on a flight, where realistically there's nowhere to vanish to ... The idea had been worked with a much lighter tone in Hitchcock's The Lady Vanishes, but here it is very edgy and sombre. Shot in winter, largely at night and in blue-black tones, it is mainly confined to the aircraft, and tightens the screws more and more ... the plot is quite tense, and the acting brilliant from what seems an unusual cast, plucked from the sky. Foster has more than a touch of superwoman by the end.

Good movie with a twist
Good movie, great plot about a little girl who was abducted during a flight home from Berlin to New York. The distraught mother does everything she can to find her daughter. The plot has many twists and turns (no spoiler alert here!) The finally is another surprise you would never expect. However, the ending was a little abrupt, I would have liked to have seen the aftermath after they had returned home, a slight disappointment on an otherwise great movie.

UN-NERVING RIVETING AIRBORNE DRAMA!
Jodie Foster gives yet another stunning performance in this nail-biting thriller. The tension is racked up right through to the last minute in this seemingly impossible tale of a lost child on an aircraft.....The supporting cast are excellent but Foster delivers the central rôle with entire believability and her frustration is emotionally brilliant proving once again she is an actor of remarkable talent.Even if you’ve seen it before, one is never quite prepared for the denouement.....(Great value-for-money)HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

Great Tense Thriller
I have seen parts of this film a few times on TV, but never actually managed to sit down and watch the whole thing from start to finish, so I eventually took the plunge and bought it on DVD. It is a very good film, anyone that liked Panic Room or is into tense Thrillers will love this film! There are a few extras on the disc but to be honest, I’m not really into looking through the extras unless there is something that sounds really interested (see Momento, the whole film is played backwards, however there is an extra to watch it the right way around, which makes for a good film in its own), so I can’t comment too much on how good/bad the extras are.I would imagine the Blu-ray copy to be out soon and may consider buying that to replace my DVD copy at some point in the future if there is a big enough improvement in quality (some older films are only marginally better on Blu-ray than DVD, so not worth the premium for Blu-ray).

Jodie
Great thriller unusual that its set on board a passenger airline with petite Jodie as the main lead her bad luck starts before she steps on board the plane with what seem to be a accident to her husband, her husband dies and Jodies character is taking the body home to the states. And thats where the problems really kick in for her and her young daughter, the tense plot starts unwinding and Jodie is great as that soft gentle widow who gets tough to find some answers to whats going on.Great twist in the story near the end a little far fetched but still a tasty looking and taut movie.

Quite exciting the first time
The film is very absorbing and exciting the first time you see it - the suspense is kept up the whole time. You're never sure whom to believe or what is actually going on and are anxious to find out. I am a great fan of conspiracy and thriller films and wasn't diappointed. I wasn't expecting all that happened and was never bored, as the acting was very good.Despite being a successful thriller, it isn't one of the best and it's only appeal is in finding out what and why everything happened, so there's absolutely no re-watchability. I thoroughly enjoyed it the first time though.

little lady vanishes
Very much on the tail of the Hitchcock film The Lady Vanishes. If you are familiar with that film will have a familiarity with this film.Woman tries to prove that person she got onto the plane (previously train) with exists regardless of the opinions of everyone else. Interesting twist but it is very obvious. I agree with other reviewer who said that this film is far too slow to get going. If you know the Hitchcock original you can skip to 2/3rd of the way through. However, all things aside, it is still an enjoyable film.

I remember enjoying this first time round. Is it ...
I remember enjoying this first time round. Is it that it hasn't aged well? I think maybe it was that I found anguished/ emotional jodie foster super-annoying! :/
