It worked out of the box.
I installed batteries, and it worked immediately, no additional codes or programming required. The LED illumination is fantastic; I always disliked how the original remote lacked this feature. It doesn't include voice control or a wireless pointer, which is great because these features are often poorly implemented and feel like gimmicks. I was also able to reuse the silicone protector from the original, now defective remote. Just don't feed it after midnight, or it will procreate and multiply - - - just like Gremlins!

PROS, CONS
PRO-I LIKE THE BUTTON LAYOUT AND EASY SETUP FOR MY LG TV REMOTE, BACKLIT KEYS ARE BRIGHT AND EASY TO SEE, WORKS BETTER THAN THE REMOTE THAT CAME WITH THE LG TV.CONS- BUTTONS PUSH HARD AND THE BACKLITE TURNS OFF AFTER 10 SEC OF NO USE SO I HAVE TO CONSTANTLY HAVE TO RELIGHT.Update: I really like the remote but after a couple days it just quit working, tried differant batteries no good, sad to return it.

Do Not
I was elated to show my husband that these remotes worked right out of the box. Just abra-ca-dabra here ya go, remote with lights.LG remote are lacking in lights and abundant in buttons. A nightmare for any TV frequenter or worse for the less antiquated. However, o and a big However. These buttons stick, slide, lag, jump. And the rolling scroll in the middle was a neat technique with our mouses' in the 90s but this on this remote is far far from convenient.I bought two and if your reading this, how many amazon buys have you returned?I'd like to get rid of these two money pits immediately. But they will just become a nuisance until they find file 13 or the playroom.$23 a piece (x2) and I'm eating it.My phone app updated for the remote and I much prefer it.However husband would love a _simple_ remote that LIGHTS UP!! (HELLO LG)*Will as video soon *

Good remote with some weak spots
Overall it's a good remote. The good:- backlight, except for arrow buttons (up/down/left/right)- buttons feels good quality. I expect them to last longer than pure rubber ones. The annoying things:- volume up/down buttons. The problem is in the shape of those buttons. Shape of those are actual symbols + and - and they are small (especially minus button). It would be better them to be like the regular ones.- There is a click sound when pressing a button. This is especially noticeable at night when everyone sleeps and you don't want to make noise. The click sound is most annoying for me. At night I had to switch to the regular remote which cancels the purpose for what I bought it :).

VGI - Very Good Item
Clearly, some customers expect some extra features that this remote does not have. If you want a lighted remote for use in dark areas, this is it!Does it have voice control? I have never used it. No big deal for me.Does it have the on screen pointer? The pointer never aligns with the remote anyway. Less frustration due to an inaccurate 'feature' on the stock remove. It does everything needed and even better than the stock LG remote. It's a fully functional remote in my view. Does not disappoint at all.

I almost exact layout as LG remote, but illuminated
Perfect! It’s almost the exact size as the LG remote that came with my TVs. The only function it doesn’t seem to have his voice recognition, but that’s OK. And it’s great that the device did not have to be paired with the TV; that function was automatic.UPDATE: the remote fell off my bed onto my carpeted floor. It is now shattered and inoperative. So much for my initial positive review!

Great backlit LG remote
This is nearly identical to the factory remote that comes with LG TV's like the C3 OLED etc.The buttons may be slightly different in the way they are laid out, but they are all there & work perfectly. The only thing this does not have is the mouse function that's on the original remote. I never really used that anyway so I don't miss it at all.I got this for the backlighting on the buttons since I am often in the dark watching TV & the backlighting works a treat on this! Sometimes it seems you have to press the light button twice to get it to light up, but when it does it's all VERY easy to see & is just so much better. Why they don't put backlighting on the factory remotes for these real expensive TV's I don't know. I guess they save a little money that way, but seems like your remote should have lighted buttons when you spend 2 to 3 grand for the TV.Anyway, the lighting is great on this remote & everything functions PERFECTLY.LG C3 TV does not even know it's not the original remote for it.

Just ok…
The remote only sort of works. Half of the buttons don’t really work that well - you have to either push really hard or multiple times to get them to work. Also, when you push the illumination button, it doesn’t work you have to push it twice for it to work. That feature was the reason that I bought this remote in the first place … I wouldn’t recommend this remote control.
