I don't usually write reviews, but I just had to do it. Hands down the best water bottle. I had it for 3 months now and it's still in great condition. I love that it's modular and you can buy replacement parts. The way the straw fits and can be removed and cleaned is brilliant.

I've bought several of these bottles now as they just don't leak (so long as you screw the top on properly). It's pretty sturdy; I bring it to the gym a lot and it gets knocked over and has survived just fine. It's easy to clean and dry. The release mechanism at the top works well and it's easy to drink out of.

[Update after 2 years] I've carried this with me and used it non-stop for 2 years. It's been very very good. So easy to flip open one handed and grab a quick drink (useful in the car). It started leaking a little after quite a lot of use. We have very hard water and this could sometimes be fixed by giving it a thorough clean as scale does build up eventually. I then bought some replacement seals, but these never fixed the leak fully. It was still very usable, but I couldn't trust it not to leak if lied down.Now at 2 years the spring on the catch just broke. That's probably not surprising after the amount of use it's had. It would have been nice to be able to buy a replacement spring or even lid. Ion8 claim to sell these but they’re not currently available and I don’t know much they’d be.They also (from pictures) seem to have moved away from the hand loop/strap and now only have the solid plastic finger loop on the lid. That means buying another is not straightforward as I much prefer the strap (perhaps fit my own to the loop).---------------------------I’ve had a 650ml version for well over a year. I use it all day every day. It’s all good. The lid is easy to use one handed and can be opened and closed quietly if needed. It’s easy and quiet to drink from as there is a separate vent. That sometimes means you spill some water out of the vent if not careful, but not a big deal. The handstrap is fine, but for me (medium man’s hands, smallish wrists), it’s fractionally too short to put my hand through and then hold the bottle. A minor annoyance. We have hard water and it’s picked up some scale on the bottle just under the cap which is a little tricky to clean because of the shape.None of these minor things have put me off ordering 1 litre versions for my wife and I. I first of all ordered another make on Amazon which looks the same in the pictures. In practice, I had put this back in the box to return within 5 minutes as it was a cheap knockoff. Almost identical looking, but the cap was cheaper plastics and the hinge and spring were flimsy and did not work well.I’ve just received our two ion8 bottles and wanted to just mention that the description is a bit misleading. It says carry strap/hook in the detailed specs and you’ll see in one of the photos a picture of a hook rather than the strap. In practice we received one with the strap attached to a ring on the bottle and the other came with a hinged plastic loop on the lid itself. Odd.The expect the one with the hook/loop will work better as a hiking bottle as it could be attached with a carabiner if needed. But not as easy to carry the rest of the time. It would be best if they came with the loop and a strap which could fit this.I do think the description should be clearer. I’m not sure if the difference is colour specific. My blue bottle has the strap and my wife’s aqua bottle has the loop. You can see the difference in the main photo when you switch colours but it’s not immediately obvious.

I never write reviews but I just had to for this. It’s the best water bottle I’ve ever seen. I could go on about how each feature is better than the last but this review would be too long. The bottle has this really soft matte texture and perfectly placed finger grooves to hold it comfortably. Holds a whole litre without being too wide or heavy. The locking feature is super useful for travelling and putting it in a bag without worrying that it will open accidentally, hasn’t leaked once. It makes that really satisfying glug sound as you drink and the fold-away loop is so much better than other bottles that have that annoying rubber band that just flaps about. But the reason it’s only almost perfect but not quite, is because it has measuring markers on the side but no way of actually seeing where the water level is to use the markers in any way. If they made a new one with a thin see-through strip next to the markers then I would say I’ll never need to buy a different water bottle again in my life.

The colours are a bit different between the two of these we have. One is more vibrant while the other is a bit more washed out in comparison. But both look great.We went with this brand because we were able to find replacement seals for them and that's ended up being a pain for previous bottle we have. Honestly they're just bottles. Others are super similar. But the replacement seals is really what sells it for us. That and the nice look.The notches for thumb and fingers feels good for our larger and smaller hands. And it is more comfortable to hold than other bottles we have. I think they look pretty good to.There are two ways to lock the bottle which is nice. One way is to slide up the button. You can slide the button down at the same time as pushing the button to open it so that's good for just making sure it doesn't get bumped a little without adding any effort to opening it.The other way is flipping up a bit of plastic around the button which holds the lid down so it can't open. That's nice and secure.So far we haven't had any issues with cleaning. I swear some bottles actually attract dirt! That matte finish feels nice and is holding up. No problems with anything.Not a big fan of the motivation text on the side. Would prefer if it was just plain. But whatever. It's not too intrusive.
