This Energenie Variable Run Down Timer is great! I attached a strip which has a number of mobile phone/camera battery chargers on it and set it on one of the 4 options of run times (1/2 hr, 1, 3 or 4 hours) . It has a count up time or a count down. The count up time apparently turns on at a pre-selected time. I can't think of anything I've got which would utilise that at the moment. However, the Countdown option is probably what everyone will most likely use. The device will shut down after whatever time you have selected in the option of run times. I've chosen 3 hours as I don't think anything will need more than 2-3 hrs charge time these days. Of course it depends on how old or how big your device is that needs charging. For example if you know your device will need 3-4 hrs of charging, then use the 4 hours option or if it's fully charged after 1/2 hr, use the 1/2 hr option. On the top of the device is a display light which is green when there is power going through it (on left side.) On the right side is a switch to turn it on or off (- when you plug it in the wall, you will see the light when you turn it on.) I like that you can gently touch it to turn on or off - I believe it is a sensor switch of some sort as there is no need for gorilla force type pressure to turn it on or off but just light finger tip pressure. There should be a sound of switch going on and a green light should be seen. I feel confident that all unnecessary chargers are off the mains and only run when needed. Especially helpful when teenagers use it as they always have lots of devices and lots of chargers. Ideal for the home trying to watch energy use and wastage. A friend told me it was on an internet eco store but I shopped here asprices were comparable.

Good value timer switch - every home should have one! I already have one of these timers, so I can confirm that they are so useful for many applications where you want to ensure that electrical equipment is not left on any longer than necessary. Well made product and easy to use.

Nice and simple, one button and you get 30 minutes, no messing around with settings or anything that could cause you to leave it on permanently, like others. Only use it a couple of times so far though so can't comment on reliability yet, I will though.

I bought this originally for my husband to charge his power tools for a set time limit, as he kept leaving them on charge too long and ruining the batteries. However we are now using it too to charge our mobile phones – again to avoid overcharging them. We mainly use the countdown timer and set it for 3 hours to give the batteries a good charge, but there are options for ½ hour, 1 hour, 3 hours and 8 hours so plenty of choice depending on what you need. The times are selected using a slide button on the unit’s side. The slide button could be improved as it’s difficult to see which option is selected, the indicator seems to sit between the times rather than directly opposite them. The unit has its own on/off switch and a bright green indicator light when it’s in use, and it feels like it has been built to last. There is a button on the rear to change the unit from a countdown time to a count up timer instead. I have not used the count up timer yet but can see times when this may come in handy too, e.g. if we are out all day and want to turn on a lamp in the evening for security we could set it to come on after 8 hours. I keep finding more uses for this so I need to buy a few more.

An absolute godsend. The amount of times we've left the house and my wife asks "Have I left my hair straightener on?"Saves all the doubt and hassle. And the need to return! Buy it now and save your marriage! 😀

I have two of these. One has lasted three to four years, the other 18 months. They no longer click on or off when you tap the top of the unit. This is disappointing as they helped me control my energy use and are great for regulating charging times for phones and laptops.

This timer does the job I wanted it for, and is so useful I'm planning to get another couple.I kept falling asleep in bed with the tv/dvd player still running and often didn't realise until the following morning.This timer plug is so simple to use, the power supply stays off until you press the green button when it starts to count down and then switches itself off 30 minutes later.I press the button as I get into bed and so far it has worked perfectly and switched the tv off after I've gone to sleep.I have only needed to re-set the timer once when I was watching something which I knew was around an hour long.It is easy enough and quick enough to do so not really a niggle.For this reason though, I agree with the other reviewers who have said that a 40 minute and perhaps 50 minute option would be a useful improvement.However, this timer does what I want it to do and I can relax knowing that the tv will turn itself off if I fall asleep. Good value for the price.

I bought this for a heated airer. It is soooo easy to use. Just gently touch the top and a green light comes on. There's a slider on the side to choose how long it's on for - I mainly have 8 hours or 5 hours. At first I thought it wasn't working because the green light flashed and the heater didn't heat up - bu then I realised I'd got it on a timer to delay it coming on. Once I flipped the switch it was fine. I would recommend this - works really well. I like the peace of mind that the airer won't be left on for days accidentally.

Utilisé pour limiter l'utilisation d'un chauffage de type souffleur qui est installé dans la salle de bain, nous avons déjà oublié plusieures fois de l'éteindre après la douche ou le bain.Avec ce minuteur il suffit d'appuyer sur le bouton pour mettre en marche 30 minutes le chauffage c'est vraiment très simple.Le principe est bien mais cet arricle a fonctionné 2 semaines avant de tomber en panne, le vendeur ne répond pas à mes messages de demande d'échange, je ne conseille pas l'achat de cet article

its usefulness in preventing my electric magnifier burn my stuff. Like the least that it has non australian fittings and i have to use two conversion plugs one for power in and one for power out. Other than that all good

La tengo para que funcione un clorador salino solo media hora y lo hace muy correctamente, esta en interior y ante corte y restablecimiento del suministro electrico lo deja en off, que es lo que me interesaba
