Excellent! Well designed, easy to set-up - caught a very large rat within 72 hours. I used peanut butter with a peanut pressed firmly into the butter. The rat had obviously managed to dislodge the peanut, triggering the trap. Death would have been instantaneous from the position of the 'kill bar'. Very easy to dispose of (double-bag the rat) and reset. I won't share a photo!!

They seem nice sturdy traps. I use peanut butter in them but I never catch any rats (thank God!). I hate the things.

Really effective in that we have caught a few mice so far. The spring loaded bar has a lot of force, so be careful with your fingers. They work fine for mice, but if you need to catch any rats then I would suggest a bigger trap, as a couple of the mice did free themselves, but they were unable to get away due to their injuries. Very easy to set and easy to clean and reuse.

A few years ago we had to eradicate mice that had found their way into our garage by gnawing away at the base of the door jambs (we have a brush at the base of the door to stop them getting in, but they were evidently very keen!). We replaced the bottom of the jambs with new wood treated with Stockholm Tar, neither mice nor water should trouble them now. While we were killing off the ones that were still hiding in there we used traps that have a small trigger under the trap, and this made it very delicate to set them. Putting them down anything but extremely gently would set them off. Some of the swearing probably made a few mice leave in advance. These Roshield rat raps are a different beast, and they're quite a beast too. You wouldn't want a finger in there when they go off, especially if it's the finger you use to dial A&E. These have a clasp that holds the trap open, so setting one on the floor isn't half as fraught with this design. The clasp is still pretty touchy even so, because it has to open at the slightest rouch of a rat onto the pressure-sensitive plate. However it means you can have your fingers clear of the mechanism and set them in-situ if necessary. It still takes care and patience. Rats are "neophobic" - like most of us they don't like change. They're pretty intelligent too, which is why they're a successful species. It's important therefore to wait until they reach the point where their need for the goodies on your side of the fence outweighs their fear of the new, the point when one finally thinks "well, what could possibly go wrong?!" It also helps to try to arrange the traps so that they can't be avoided, such as by making them the only way through a barrier you have created - stuck in the middle of a floor they might not ever catch anything. Beside a house wall with a barrier of boards or bricks stacked fairly high your chances of results are a lot higher because you're channelling them onto the traps. They're comparatively easy to set, and they have a helluva whack, so you will generally get clean kills. If not, you may well have to get strong gloves or some tongs, and drop the rat and trap into a bucket of water. It's not a nice thing to have to do, but in rural settings with animal feeds around it is what stands between a moderate pest population and being overrun - which the history books tell us has always been a source of problems! For the ease of setting alone these are worth it.

I have a problem with rats in my shed. They’ve chewed and destroyed everything. I put an old and knackered squirrel trap in there and caught two. However, after seeing their compadres fate rats have enough intelligence to recognise danger and then avoided the traps. I thought that introducing a new device would solve the problem. Alas, no. They somehow trigger these traps without getting caught. And they now avoid these. I check each morning and they are still set and the bait untouched. Despite the number of good reviews I have to say I’ve found them totally useless which surprised me as they’re well made and very good quality. I wish I’d have saved my money.

Yes, very effective at dispatching smaller rats instantly but bigger rats might pose a problem. I alternated between spam and crunchy peanut butter to tackle a rat issue at the bottom of my garden near the shed. This proved highly effective for the younger more smaller rats but I believe bigger rats were briefly getting caught and managing to struggle out using their overall size and strength. Traps had been set off and there was evidence of a rat having been snared with oily muddy paw prints left on the trap itself. Eventually I caught one which clearly pulled itself off the trap then 'departed' nearby. So not an instant dispatch which understandably might concern some people. Roshield do a much bigger trap that will counter this situation regarding bigger rats if you feel the need. However, I did eventually resolve the rat problem having caught a total of 16 rats so in that sense it was a productive purchase. Thank you.

Je suis très satisfait de ce produit qui est très simple à utiliser sans trop risquer de se faire pincer les doigts comme sur les modèles traditionnels en bois . L'appât est très facile à poser ( un petit morceau de fromage ) vous tendez le clapet facilement il se bloque avec un petit clapet et c'est joué. Pour les souris et surtout les mulots ça marche très très bien, je vous conseille ce modèle qui est parfait pour les personnes qui veulent se débarrasser de ces petites bébêtes dans leur jardin. Pour les rats je suis un peu septique ! il risque probablement de se faire la belle avec la tapette qui est un peu légère pour la taille d'un spécimen de taille moyenne et encore plus un molosse !!! Man kann solche Artikel nicht mit Sternen bewerten weil es hierbei nicht nach Fangquoten geht. Die Ware funktioniert! Wenn die Mäuse vorher den Köder `rauslutschen kannste'auch nix größeres erwischen. (außer vielleicht Eichkatzen) Wir haben echt kluge Altratten....Am Teich habe ich schon `mal 3Jungratten erwischt. Die hatten Fischfutter geangelt.

These traps are unfit for purpose. Unsure why it’s described as wooden when it’s clearly plastic. It’s really difficult to get the trap to actually set. More often than not, it simply springs back. The largest issue, however, is that it doesn’t work at all. I have just watched a rat set the trap off and run away. Don’t waste your money 😞
