Excellent reliability so far (in use for 5 months 24x7)
I installed this starter pack so that I could add an IP camera to my network - the camera has wi-fi capability, but the installation location only has a weak signal. I picked the Devolo units because they have a reputation for higher reliability and quality than cheaper units from other manufacturers, and that seems to be borne out by my problem-free experience over the last 5 months. The Devolo units are very easy to install and I'd hooked up my IP camera within a very few minutes. I also access the camera remotely on a regular basis and rarely have any issues connecting - the rare occasions when I can't connect seem to be due to issues with the P2P connectivity of the camera, which is a bit flaky at times (although this has improved markedly of late). By the way, the IP camera that I have is the UCAM 1080p HD outdoor camera - have a look here if you're interested: 1080p HD Wireless WiFi Outdoor Security Camera. All-in-one Home CCTV with Free Cloud Recording. Free iPhone, iPad and Android apps. 3 Steps Set-up, 15m Night Vision, Motion Sensor, Remote Playback DVR, ONVIF Ready. UCam247-HDO1080. All in all, this was a good buy for me, but if you're on a tighter budget then you could also look at similar offerings from TP-Llink, BT or Netgear (for example - there are several others that appear to be well-regarded). But do check the specs carefully as some of the Devolo standard features may be missing e.g. this one has 2 LAN ports and a pass-through socket for plugging in other equipment - some of the alternative units from other manufacturers only have one LAN socket and no pass-through capability. Search for "powerline" or "homeplug" to see what's available.

Amazing value.
I have used Devolo products for years, they are very reliable. I bought these on an offer and am still amazed at the value (£27 at the time of purchase). They installed easily using Devolo's "Cockpit" software for PC. They have a pass-through 13 amp socket on the front so you don't lose a wall socket after you've plugged them in. Also the built in mains socket has a filter on it remove any "noise" generated by devices you may plug into it. They provide up to 500Mbs link-speed which is more than enough for my needs. Please don't forget that you won't get higher data transmission than your Broadband provider gives you. You can see their Link-Speed via the "Cockpit" software. Simples. Very highly recommeded.

Good but big
These items are good but BIG. They are very easy to use and setup and are pretty much ready out of the box although you'll quite likely want to use a downloadable app to configure them to your preferred WiFi name and password. They work well and speeds are good. Main gripe is the size of them. Main plug is not as big as those giving off wifi and with extra network ports but the two that do are not far off small house bricks and I came across many plugs that would have been perfect to locate them but wouldn't take them due to the available space above them. You need a good 6 inches clear above the top of any electrical socket, otherwise they won't fit. Great devices, just need space.

Great extender
I bought this to extend the dLAN powerline set-up I already have. The whole system works extremely well, both as an ethernet connection for e.g. YouView box for the TV, but also as a WiFi extender. I found Apple's Airport Extreme won't play nicely with other systems, so when I switched to BT's Infinity service and started using their hub, the Airport set-up basically went into a sulk. This has replaced it seamlessly, and the extender gives another hard wired ethernet option in an additional room for internet. I will admit to messing up my network when I first added this into the system. (Something to do with pressing the wrong buttons on the wrong piece of kit at the wrong time...) However, I ended up re-setting the whole network (a very quick job), added in the extender by pushing the right button at the right time, and everything was fine again. Basically, if you set up the original network some time back, then it's worth reading the instructions again just to make sure you remember what to do! It does run a bit warm, but I haven't found this to be a problem.

Works - Expensive, not much quicker than 500s, cheap looking
I've used Devolo home plugs for 3 years now - starting with the 200. Recently upgraded most of the kit to 500 but decided to treat myself to a 1200 plug and wifi as well. + : easy to setup, compatible with 200 and 500 plugs, acceptable performance increase over 200, 13A pass through. - : cheap materials, unintuitive LED, poor instructions, huge, Ethernet port on top. First impressions are the build quality is much lower - plastic is cheap looking, the informative LEDs have been replaced with a single pin hole LED (which the instructions never actually outline what each sequence or colour means) and the wPS button is an easily missed, unlabelled, recess on the side. It's also huge and for reasons known only to Devolo the Ethernet port is on top - like they have done with all their recent units. For me, this makes it look tacky - but they must have their reasons. The instructions are terrible. Truly woeful. Luckily I'm familiar with how to pair these and as I have an existing setup its a case of pushing the WPS button on an existing unit, then pushing on the new unit (opposite order to the instructions!) and waiting a minute or so. The wPS button is not obvious - on the side of the unit. once done the setup was successful and the Cockpit app confirmed connectivity with all other units. The unit ships with a cable, though note it's a CAT 5e cable, not a CAT 6. Another budget cutting point. Once set up I then swapped out the 200 unit (which was beautifully made - over engineered I suppose) and put this in its place connected to my router (using my own CAT 6 cable). All worked fine - which is the main point. As this is now out of sight. I can forgive the aesthetics and port on the top - but still, for a flagship unit I expected better. Working fine now and therefore does what I wanted. Speeds are approximately triple the 200, as you would hope, but no where near advertised rates. I'm not overly bothered as my house wiring is interesting and old, but I would suggest considering if you really need these speeds or whether the 500/650 would suffice - they are much better value. So, it works - I cannot give it a ringing endorsement though. If money is no object, buy it - if not, give some serious thought to the 500/650 if you can get them.

Finally, seamless wifi extension!!
After trying to extend my wifi with a number of wireless solutions which never proved satisfactory, this devolo 1200+ wifi AC has worked beautifully! I already used a number of devolo mains network products from the old 200AV to the newer 500 and 650 mains units. Obviously you will need another devolo or mains network product to connect to this one from your router, but then the seamless cloning of your wifi details ( I use a DLink 868L router ) was so simple! All my devices transition seamlessly from the main wifi to the identical signal broadcast from this one. I also have an apple airport express connected to this unit via one of the Gigabit ports connected to a hifi in the same room. All works beautifully. The wifi from this unit covers the kitchen area and extends through the glass double glazed patio doors all the way to the end of our 90ft garden. So pleased to finally get a robust wifi extension solution. Recommended wholeheartedly if you can't run a cable to where you need wifi. I would never try extending wifi using a wireless-only product in future.

Perfect in every way.
First, I bought a 'very good' condition one at a saving of £36. The only thing wrong was the plug protector was missing. I bought this to serve as the Master unit of several devices, a 550, 2x500, and 2x200. These devices were from new to 10 years old and all synched perfectly. LIt improved the link speed on all devices. I plugged in, did the simple installation, and a couple of minutes later it was inn the network. Swapped out the old Master and it took over immediately. I used the Wi-Fi synch routine and it was available to Wi-Fi devices in the 2.4 Gb link. I had to open the configuration from the Devolo Cockpit to change the Wi-Fi setting on the 5.0Gb setting. Finally a word about the Devolo support. I had previously tried to install the same type of adapter from a different source. Devolo email support was unsurpassed with responses within minutes. After several attempts to resolve the issue they concluded correctly that the adapter was u/s.

Very old faulty stock
I bought a set and they were faulty ....did not pair for long and then disconnected, so I returned assuming it was a one off, and bought a new set. This set did the same I then looked closer on the box. The date on the box was 2014!! 10 years old! And says it supports windows 8! These were sold as new ...but they are incredibly old and clearly faulty stock. Disgusting that the seller is selling these as new stock. Wasted a week of my life. Now I bought a pair of sockets from elsewhere and they are truly new and work perfectly
