Acid Alkaline Diet For Dummies

Helpful insights
I started to study alkalinity in the first quarter of 2018. I purchased five books about alkalinity during 2018. I still have them all, and plan to keep them - I like them all.The last book I purchased about alkalinity is the most comprehensive, and published on the highest quality materials - its my first stop in finding an answer for any question about alkalinity that I have. This book is entitled EAT BETTER, LIVE BETTER, FEEL BETTER, by Julie Cove.Julie Wiilkinson's book has 200 pages of text to answer people's questions, before one gets to160 pages of mostly recipes.Julie Wilkinson's insights are often clever and unconventional, in very positive ways.Julie Wilkinson's book is half as expensive as the alternatve book, for those who want to economize..

Good introduction on BMR and other nutritin topics in layman's terms
The book is generally devoid of strong scientific support. But that is not that bad, it depends on the reader's expectation. Perhaps, for a novice in dietary/nutrition field - this book can bring many good ideas. A good introduction on caloric calculation is Chapter 8 (page 117). It introduces basal metabolic rate (BMR) and gives examples of calculations implementing Katch-McArdle formula. Awareness about your own BMR is important. The big question is how to calculate BMR accurately. There are so many calculators online including dedicated electronic devices (such as Omron HBF-396C, best rated on Amazon) or electronic weight scales (Eat_Smart) that could calculate your body fat %.(not in agreement with each other). Interesting is Chapter 12 (On Supplements..) - demystifying the claims of the million-dollar industry. Dwelling on small matters, can however distract from the big picture: It has been shown that many vitamin-/supplement- studies correlate with an increase risk of disease as cancer and produces little benefit to health!

A honest approach to going alkaline
After consulting with my doctor the really is no way to get your body in perfect ph balance. He did suggest that the lifestyle and eating plan that an alkaline diet plan outlines is certainly worth doing it is a healthful approach. I downloaded the kindle version of this book and enjoy being able to take It with me wherever I go to make quick references. The dummies books are typically hand guides for the rest of us normal people out there. Things are easily described menus are practical, chapters are logical. The dummies books are successful because they make it easy and practical.

Clearly made for Begginners...but I mean this in a Positive way
Sometimes you are heading into a "new field" of knowledge (at least for you) and you don't know how to make heads from tails...and this book made the immersive process much simpler. The book is separated into chapters that are very logical and you can skip from one to another without feeling that you have missed on the "Holy Grail" of an Alkalinizing life-style: each chapter emphasizes the knowledge you will need in order to understand in plain laymen terms.I've owned many other books in the "For Dummies" series, but they were always more "computer related" (Office, Photoshop, etc.) so this was my first foray into the "Dieting/Nutritional" area and I am happy to have made this purchase. From this one I feel I can graduate to "heavier" reading.

This book really helped clarify the Acid/Alkaline connection
The Dummies books have that edge of humor that I enjoy, especially when learning more about a subject. So that mixed with the author's knowledge helped me begin a more acid/alkaline diet. I wanted to be more alkaline to see if this would help with my digestive issues that I had been experiencing for awhile. So far, so good, and I really like this lifestyle. My energy levels are definitely up, especially since I have weened myself off of coffee, which is highly acidic. Will be trying a new-to-me product called Teeccino to help with my "need" for a coffee fix.I did download the Kindle version, and I'd rather have the physical book, but the Kindle version was cheaper (I like a good deal).

Wasn't very helpful
I didn't like a lot about this book; I just wanted an understanding of how to get my body more alkaline with the right foods and what not to eat. The book does go into this but also gives a lot of other advice that should be common sense such as being sure to exercise, don't smoke, etc. A lot of extraneous narrative in the book; I found only about a third of it to be useful and the writing is very large which makes it seem like there are a lot of pages but there isn't much info. I also wanted a book that had listings of most foods that I could quickly refer to. The book has some basic lists but most of it is advice on this or that. Also the author is very into tofu and soy foods which I don't like or want to eat. I only found one recipe that I cared to make in the whole book.

Glad I got this.
It took a very long time go get it, but I finally got it yesterday. For someone who is a beginner in this or have a little knowledge, this book is awesome!

Good information. Love the 'For Dummies' series
Who knew? Good information. Love the 'For Dummies' series. Always lots of basic and advanced info on how to create balance on your body. So much to learn, this book was a good place to start, lots of answers on the subject.

Easy to understand and full of really useful information
Have bought a few books on this subject but found this to be the easiest to understand for me. A couple of chapters I skipped through quickly as info was either repeated or not relevant for me but overall the advice and guidance was spot on and I have found the diet to have been a real help in keeping my acidic stomach at bay. Defintely worth considering if you are looking for this type of diet/lifestyle.

Great Overview
At times it feels a bit long-winded and the diet itself is punishing towards meat-lovers. The evidence for the science behind this book I've found to be somewhat sketchy. Nevertheless, there are obviously some clear benefits here and the author softens the impact by clearly stating that 80% is an exceelent goal to work for. I'd like to have seen green drinks pushed a lot more as they are simply gorgeous- especially in hot weather.

very informative
as excepted the most informative book I've found on the subject there is a lot out there that isn't clear on contradicts itself but this book is very clear and useful to understand the diet and how it works as well as what to eat most and less of

bitty
I found it really awkward to read.It jumped about from one subject to another. When I read I want it to read smoothly and lead on easily from one point to another. It felt as if it had been written by a drunk
