RosenthalThomas Loft White Dinnerware Set – Modern Dishes including Dinner Plates, Salad Plates, Soup Plates and Mugs – Made of Porcelain – 16 pieces

Have had my eye on these dishes for fifty years, finally bought this set. Very, very nice quality, come beautifully packed, exactly what I wanted. Versatile, very, very nice quality.

8 plates have chipped after 2 years of use. We have cheap dinner plates that has never chipped after 30 years of every day use! We are very disappointed.

The plates/bowls/cups are all nice looking but I have a few issues: (1) food sticks to the plates pretty easily - like if you have anything sticky on it like rice or gnocchi, it's hard to wash it off; (2) it's kind of fragile - they break pretty easily (especially compared to Corning/Corelle which never breaks); and (3) the ergonomics on the cup is bad. It's hard to hold the cup without it tilting to the left side (if you're a righty). It's hard to hold the cup without having your 3rd, 4th, and 5th fingers touch the cup, which is unpleasant when you're drinking hot coffee.

I really would like to give these a 4 1/2 star rating, but I don't have that option. My husband and I registered for these dishes for our wedding. We have been using them for a year and a half and they still look great- no scratches or chips. We liked that they are a nice, simple design that won't look dated in a couple of years. The dishes clean up easily with minimal scrubbing. I would give these a 5 star review except for two minor things:1. The plates are deep, so flatware tends to slide to the middle of the plate. It is not an issue for me or my husband since we are used to it, but guests tend to have a little trouble at first.2. I wish the bowl that came with the set was a deeper bowl for soup and ice cream. The bowls with this set are more appropriate for pasta and salads. I would have bought a few of this type of bowl anyhow, but I think a smaller, deeper bowl is more practical for everyday use.All in all, we would buy these dishes again and have been very satisfied with our purchase!

Fine quality product.

I have owned these dishes for 6 years nothing has ever happened to them. I bought them at Bed Bath and Beyond when the sales rep took the dinner plate and whacked it as hard as he could on the corner of the display table and it did not break. I loved the concentric circles, but more than that, I love that they were certain to be durable. So, how durable?I use them every day.I wash them in my dishwasher every day.I entertain people who may not be as graceful as I am and none have broken or chipped.I have moved to two new homes in 6 years and through the packing and unpacking and moving process, none have broken.I have dropped them on my ceramic tile kitchen floor and they didn't break - nor did the floor - phew!I have scraped them with knives and they haven't scratched.I don't know what the science is behind these dishes, but for those who have had a problem with chipping or breaking, I cannot imagine, at all, what you could have done to them - because in my experience, no matter how hard i am on these beauties, I can't seem to break them!Recommend.

My husband and I had a hard time finding a china pattern we both liked when we were getting married. We both like something modern, but I was more attracted to colorful dinnerware while he wanted to stick with a simple white. We finally found a pattern we could agree upon - the Thomas Loft. I love the subtle circle design on the plates and since they are a simple white color, it's easy to dress up the table with other colors. The dinnerware is also very sturdy, but nice enough to look chic when you're having a special dinner. I am really pleased with all the pieces we have received/purchased. It's a great set that works equally well for everyday dining and special occasions.The only downside is (as someone else mentioned), the large dinner plates won't fit easily into my dishwasher. I can only fit them on the edges which means I can only wash four at a time. They are too tall to fit in the middle where the upper blade spins. It's a little annoying, but doesn't make me like this dinnerware any less.
