I was looking for a new PSU to power a new computer I'm building in a smallish (micro-atx sized) case. When spending a lot on PC components, the last thing you want to do is cheap out on the power supply and fry everything 18 months down the line. My first stop was therefore the famous 'PSU Tier List' to find one which was both top rated and also SFX or SFX-L. This seemed to tick the boxes, albeit that it's a little overpowered for my needs. However, give it's 'Platinum' rated, it should be efficient for the majority of its output (and at low outputs, the efficiency matters less).The PSU is solid and seem well built, though I realise heavyness isn't really a measure of quality. It looks nice in black, with metal accents here and there. It's fully modular, though I think being SFX-L, it has slightly fewer connectors than you might get on a full size ATX one. Each cable is individually sleeved which should help with the mess of wiring in a small case.In use the PSU is quiet. At low loads the fan turns off and, given that 1000W is a lot, it stays off a fair bit of the time. When under higher load, the fan is still quiet, and it more of a swooshing noise than annoyingly high pitched. I didn't notice any coil whine from it, but I haven't got really close to it.The only thing I haven't connected up is the RGB on it. I'm sure it looks nice if you're showing off the insides of your case, but for me it wasn't neccessary.Overall very happy with it as a PSU. It's obviously not the cheapest there is, and this might be a consideration for budget builds, but if you can find it at a good price point then there is little to complain about with this PSU.
