Best headphones I've ever had
Warning.... Don't judge them on first listen Run them in for a good 10-20 before Bucks Fizz Eurovision Winner Oooops, silly me, I mean, before making your mind up Initially they sound nice, but not 500 pound nice depending on what you pay for them Do not pay more than £500 though as with Amazon the price varies I got them for 464 but then the price dropped to 419.... I asked Amazon to refund the difference They wouldn't, but I could return them and reorder for the price I went to re order and suddenly the price was £500 Such shady dealings with Amazon, really shady Anyway....to the headphones After running in, they really are lovely sounding\ Not overloaded with Bass like a lot of these Beats headphones, which are completely overpriced because of the name The Bass is true, as in you actually hear the texture of a bass line rather than just some bass "noise" Instrument separation is very, very good The top end is what I would describe as smooth rather than overly detailed I mean, I getting on a bit, despite being 8-12 years old in the mind I'm actually middle aged..... what's middle aged you say? I dunno these daze I'd say 39-55 So as of the time of writing I'm somewhere in between that My hearing.. I can barely hear a 14khz tone now, so bear bare (how do you spell that?) in mind But it's probably better than most chaps my age, because once you past 30, the fact is you really do start to lose the top end of your hearing whether you like it or not Right, to the top end They tail off quicker than my Monito Audio Gold speakers But sound a tad smoother So ultimate detail might not be there if your ears need a bit of extra treble But they fit nice and are very comfy for long sessions, of listening that is 😊 You really have to wear them in a reasonably silent room though, as being open backed you will hear outside noises So if you're thinking of having these on whilst sitting next to the wife/husband/man friend/girlfriend/thing friend/in between friend I'd advise against getting them as they really do leak sound rather loudly I've had them a few months now, so I velvet, oops, I mean felt I could write a reasonable review Although reasonable I'm usually not Goodbye for now PS Also it asked me to give a star rating on "Sheerness" Seriously WTF is that all about I mean, is that a joke or you really want me to judge a headphone in relation to a place in Kent? Just nonsense, and I know nonsense when I see it

My new favourite pair
So glad I bought these, they were a treat and wondered if I should spend the money. Worth the price and value for money. The fit is very comfortable, does have not excessive clamp and light weight. I forget I have them on sometimes and even that they have a cable. Sound wise they sound pretty neutral to me, but I’m not an expert. You can hear more detail in the mix and instruments. Sound stage is not impressive but not bad either. I have a pair of Sony WH-1000XM4s and although they are fairly easy to listen to they are far to bassy the point of being harsh and sound muddy, if you have been listening to these. Better frequency-wise, and more comfortable than a pair of oldish Grado SR225s. Yes they are open, yes there are other more practical headphones with noise cancelling and wireless features, and apps etc. But these are old school, no fuss and make you appreciate the music again.. easy to understand why they are fan favourites. Always surprised when I put them on. Only gripe is that the cable catches my nose and mouth when taking them off in a hurry. Theyre a bit underpowered on my iPhone, so you’ll need a dac or amp of some sorts. Works perfectly well on my MacBook Pro without extra amplification. Decent build quality, but sadly no decent case for your money.

Good upgrade for correct price
Got HD660S2 when it price dropped to around 400 euro. I already have HD600 so I can compare them side by side on Magni/Modi stack and new FOSI ZH3 I got for those sennheisers (I gave HD600 and Modi/Magni stack to my wife). Build Quality: same sturdy buid like HD600. I expect pads to wear similarly (2 years to replace). HD600 still going strong after 8 years...I expect same here. Fit and size: similar. Bit tight clamp force but you can stretch them by grabbing metal band only same as HD600. Same fit as 600(perfect). Amplification requirements: High. Those are 300Ohm...bit better sensitivity than HD600 (Means less juice for same volume) but you still need at least 2V RMS amp. Sound quality: Wider soundstage and more impact on sound...definitely more engaging than HD600. There is much more bass and mid bass but it's not overwhelming... making sound fuller and more forward. Highs and detail are same or better than HD600 on both devices (Magni and FOSI). Overall its sound is more...full and you feel like you don't use low end details or soundstage. Swapping between HD600 and HD660S2 (volume matched) seems like you get more sound in HD660S2. Now there is obe thing that HD600 are kings and that is timbre in mids...but HD660S2 are so close to them and you gain so much across the board is not even close. Now...for 400 euro yes...worth it. For more? Questionable upgrade vs HD600. If you don't have any of the HD6XX series...those are pretty much end game for most. Make sure its plugged to proper amp tough.

Pricey but they do sound good.
I'm not a sound engineer, DJ, producer or massive audiophile but I wanted to see how good the "best consumer grade audio" would really be. In summary they are pretty impressive overall and after a month or so of using them daily I would say they're worth it if you don't mind the high price tag. I've used some variation of Sennheiser gaming headsets for 10+ years, from the HD560, HD595, PC350, Game Zero, recently the PC350 SE. They all last me a few years each and have been decent sound quality, especially the open back versions. The sound is definitely a cut above all of those headsets. When a video, movie or game used 3d audio, the "sound staging" or however you describe this is in a different class. For example live music is as immersive as I imagine it can be. Instruments seem to stand more on their own, you can pick out layers of the track easier. Due to this and the wider frequency coverage, you even hear some notes, sub bass or parts of songs that you couldn't hear before. For audio I can't deny they are fantastic and they have made me a bit of a sound snob because all my other headphones/earphones/airpods sound even more crap in comparison! I think the price is just a bit too steep for what they are and should at least include a built in mic for self monitoring. They are a more robust metal headband design than the lower models but that's about it, the build quality is better but they are no more comfortable, uses the same ear pad cups and design etc. Lastly the cable is pretty crap, and is one of the first things I upgraded. It comes with a heavy, chunky 1.5m cable that goes into a 6.5mm jack. You can get much better third party ones for around £15 up to 3 meters but you really shouldn't have to... I think around the 400 mark would be more fair for these. If you are already using something high end I doubt it's worth upgrading to these, but going from low to mid range they will still blow your ears away still after a month, so it's not just novelty or placebo.

Lively, engaging and fun.
I've added the 660s2 to my arsenal of headphones and IEMs as I have missed owning a full size open back headphone for several years. Although this is a 300ohm headphone, the high sensitivity means that you don't need a super powerful amp to get them very loud, bearing in mind that loud does not necessarily mean adequately powered though. Just out of interest I first tried them with my A306 Sony Walkman (UK version with the volume cap) and my Xperia 1iii phone using their headphone sockets, I expected them to be pretty quiet at max volume, instead both got the headphones plenty loud at about 75% volume, I was shocked, I have an IEM that needs to be played at a higher volume setting, they sounded very enjoyable. I then tried them balanced with an IFI Go Bar DAC/amp, that sounded even better, more energetic, better bass definition, notes more incisive. Same performance using the IFI Go Blu. The overall sound is full bodied, neutral-warm and engaging. Bass is great, not just for an open headphone but in general. The sound works with every genre I tried from trad music from across Asia to experimental electronic to jazz. I think if you found these to be bass light you've probably been listening to wireless headphones with the bass boosted for too long. They feel robust, very comfortable, I have a biggish head and found the clamp force to be fine. Cable is a length suited to use at a desk, feels very durable but I may have a shorter, lighter cable made for use with portable devices at home. I'm very pleased with the 660s2.

An Audio Revelation That Redefines Excellence
As a bit of an audiophile who's cycled through countless headphones over the years—from budget cans to high-end planar magnetics—the Sennheiser HD 660S2 has utterly transformed my listening experience. These open-back over-ear headphones represent the pinnacle of Sennheiser's legendary 6XX series, building on the heritage of models like the HD 600 and HD 650 while addressing longstanding critiques with innovative engineering. Priced around $500-600, they're not entry-level, but they deliver value that far exceeds the cost. After months of daily use, I can confidently say these are the best headphones I've ever used, and moving forward, I'll swear by Sennheiser exclusively. No other brand has captured this level of immersion and fidelity for me.

Stunning.
I've had these for just over a month now and and certainly have no regrets with the purchase. I looked at the 660s2 last year when first released price £499 but opted for a pair of Focal Eliga's instead also excellent but couldn't shake the feeling I needed to try some open back phones. They have lived up to the good reviews I've watched on YouTube, open backs with a great bass response in fact stunning across the full frequency range. Crystal clear stand out vocals, decent soundstage, great imaging and depth. At the moment I run them through my ifi Hip dac 3, a brilliant little portable dac that drives the 660s2 with ease, and Its great to be able to now use the balaced output with the Sennheiser's as they come with 2 cables, balanced and standard jack.I watched one review that said these things really shine when connected to a decent valve amp, maybe that's something for the future but for now using them with the Hip dac and my Google pixel 7a streaming from Amazon music HD is brilliant experience.

Broken outside of warranty.
These headphones sound amazing, but I have had them for 2 years and 8 months and the right side has gone. I thought, because they were made of quality components they would last for years, but no. 8 months out of warranty and they are broken. Almost £200 to fix with Sennheiser. I have bought cheaper £150 headphones and they sound almost as good. A waste of a lot of money. I have always bought Sennheiser but will not be buying again.
