I was desperate to find a personal alarm that I could also use as a portable motion sensor but I really wasn't sure such a thing existed... but then I found it whilst trawling thro the available options on Amazon.. however.. the first, and previously only review on here slated it completely.. I decided I would take the risk being as there were no other options.. I could always return it if it was SOOO bad!.. so today it arrived, and the first thing I did was to test it!.. which I had to do at arms length.. it WAS TRULY EAR SPLITTING.... I can only assume that the previous reviewer had a faulty one (or v. little battery charge)... my ears were 'banging' I could barely concentrate to turn the thing off...Can't say I've checked out the PIR function yet, as I'm giving my ears a rest before trying that out, its rather alarmed all the pets too... so I'm going to try that out in the car later I think.. so providing the sensor works properly no reason that it won't product exactly the same ear-splitting sound, I imagine.. but I'll revise my post if it doesn't work out.Yes.. it does look marginally more 'metallic' and sturdy in the photo than in reality.. the slider doesn't seem very durable, as has already slipped out of its groove.. but it has popped back in easily and I will treat with care.Excellent value for money. Especially as a sale item!

Product was as described made from quality materials very compact easy to carry and functional.Product was a present for my niece during her travels after a previous bad experience. She now uses this device as an element of a complimentary practical security advice I have provided.

I bought it for my duaghter as a personal safety alarm. Would have chosen a watch style for ease of carrying. But daughter said she wouldn't wear the watch style as they are too bulky. So after browsing a while I picked this for for its price and multiple functions.It's easy to start and stop the alarm, the motion detector works in a test run by waving at it. Good value for the functions it has in one gadget. The only thing is daughter needs to remember to bring it with her!Still really pleased with the purchase.

This is an amazing little gadget. Every traveller should buy one. Appear from being a great personal alarm which is loud and high pitched enough to deter any shady characters. The brilliant part is the torchlight and the ability to use it as a means of deterring anyone that may decided to enter your room in the middle of the night. Really easy to set up, just switch it on and place the alarm in front of the opening of the door. You have 20 secs.Or carry it with you and it works by just pulling out the pin. Honestly this saved me quite a bit of anxiety on a few occasions when travelling around Asia.

Not at all made well feels like something one at a funfare

This alarm is more expensive than other because it has both PIR and pull-pin activation. However the pull-pin is flawed because the pin and aperture are on the same face as the handle. A strong tug is more likely to snap the device than extract the pin. To work effectively the handle and pull-pin should be on opposite ends of the device. I had intended to use this to secure a trailer in the garage, causing a suprise/commotion when they move it and extract the pin. I'll use this one as a PIR elsewhere.

Bought it for my wife for work who can be on her own late at night in a large complex, excellent piece of kit. The PIR she uses if shes working in an isolated area and places it at the door. Its loud enough to be effective and " playing with it to test it the PIR works every time.....could be used for window protection,open door protection hotel room when travelling etc ....good value for the tenner,
