Absolutely Great Tool! Excellent Investment.
This unit is sold as a drywall sander, but I used to sand our rear (covered) wood deck prior to sealing. It had been a few years since I had last worked it so there was a fair amount of weathering. I wasn't sure how well it would come out since the unit is designed to be applied against a vertical drywall and I would be using it against a horizontal wood floor. This was one of the less expensive units with an older technology motor (with graphite brushes). More expensive units have a brushless motor. I liked the fact that it had LED lights to illuminate the sanded area and especially the vacuum bag to collect the sanding dust. As it turned out, this sander worked absolutely great on my deck floor. They give you a number of sanding disks (100 & 220 grit), but for wood, I had to order 60 and 80 grit disks to expedite the effort. I was simply amazed at how well this sander did the job. It requires a little bit of patience. I did runs at 60, 80, 100 and 220 grit and the results were excellent. The motor has multiple speeds which is great. I had read comments that the vacuum did not work well, but it did for me. As the job progressed, some of the vacuum holes in the sander get clogged but that's normal; you just clean periodically. I'd say the dust vacuum performance was quite acceptable, and it collected most of the dust. Overall, I was very pleased with the purchase; the sander worked like a champ. Also nice is the duffel bag they give you for storage, plus an extra set of brushes once the ones in the unit wear out (which I suspect will take a long time). I would definitely recommend this product. I did not use for its main purpose, but I suspect it would do a great job on drywall too!

Drop the coin and get the prouduct
For a DIY this is a 10 star product. I hate Sanding Sheetrock, for that fact I dislike doing anything with sheetrock, it’s a mess, heavy to be around, but I digress, back to the review…. I always sand to much and my wife complains I have made a mess with dust (dust on everything..can you relate??) Problem solved with this tool. It’s fast, effortless, and attaching it up to a shop vac with a long hose to pull the dust made it “virtually” dustless with what I would call professional results. As I mentioned I have a long shop vac hose (ordered from Amazon) for my orange color box store shop vac which allowed me to place the shop vac outside and run the hose inside attaching directly to the sander. Sanded the kitchen remodel literally in minutes. It’s a tad heavy to hold for long periods if you are doing a ceiling, but again this is a DIY user not a person that does it for a living that would have a lightweight professional grade sander. It folds down nicely to place in its storage bag waiting for its next DIY job. I highly recommend if you order also get a long hose for your shop vac with multiple hose ends so you can clip on the proper size end onto the hose for a snug fit to the sander end. Yes it has a dust bag attached, but I didn’t use it so I can’t review how well it collected dust, personally I think the shop vac is a better option. Also order a selection of different grit sanding disks. The grit range I used was 180 to 220. The Sanding speed switch on the sander I didn’t go much higher than 2 or 3 (out of multiple speeds) and most times I used slow speed 1 to help ensue I wasn’t sanding to much or tearing the Sheetrock. It came out beautiful with professional results, I have been asked by neighbors “who did my Sheetrock work, because it looks great”. 😉. Top coat with a good primer, texture if you wish and use a high quality paint for professional results, but remember it all starts with the tape, mud and how well you sand. This tool sands well with 10 plus stars for this DIY user. Don’t go crazy with mud, remember, applying mud is an art, spread it out and float it. It a wall illusion that it’s all looks flat and consistent to the eye. Happy Sanding.

A solid machine - solid review
Yes, it's heavy. You need to sand and take breaks. It doesn't wear you out any more than hand sanding (I prefer this sander hands down). In fact, it gets the job done A LOT faster and better. The 9" disc makes smoother, more even sands (vs digging holes in your work). The finished product is great. The only negative: the write up says the dust extraction on this tool is amazing- no...far from it. It collects about 5-10% of the dust. It's so dusty, you can't see what you are sanding. The light is amazing. But, with all of the dust, it's worse than driving through the fog. I saw a review where a guy used this setup and got no dust on him (he must have only sanded 5 seconds...bc you'll look like a snowman after a few minutes). The fix: if you leave the bag off and hook it up to a shop vac (using 2 circuit breakers), the shop vac will pick up 95-98% of the dust. With a shop vac, this sander gets 5 stars. In fact, I'd recommend buying the sander without the bag. Dust extraction, with a vac, far outweighs hand sanding...worth the investment. I've only used the grid/mesh sandpaper. Regular sandpaper might be horrible on the dust (even with the vac - not sure). I'd recommended buying cheap 9" disc sandpaper and punching your own holes in it (it'll be near impossible to buy sandpaper where the holes match the sander).
