Fits my M50x phones, sounds good
It snaps into the phones like the original cable but without quite as much effort. For that reason it might not hold in place quite as well, but I don't know, just bought it.The -original- cable is thick and kinky, after a week it still has the bends from being confined inside the box. THIS cable came gently coiled and is nicely wrapped (braided), stiff but slim and straight, a lot easier to keep out of the way just because it isn't as thick and bulky.i wasn't sure at first about audio quality, but apparently I didn't have it plugged in good. My laptop jack is a little funky. This cable does not seem to reduce sound quality at all.

No nonsense replacement.
With the old cable it was easy to pop the one end into the headphones and twist without looking. Not so much with these. But you know who's problem that is? Mine. Looking the cable go into the headphones and twisting, no issues. Once the cable is in, it's not going anywhere. Feels great, works great. Got rid of my audio issues with the old cable. Easy 5/5.

Looks like a keeper
Ordered this for a set of ATH-M40x headphones I picked up almost two years ago. The cables that come with the headphones are nice, but too long for my general application.I hesitated on this one since at least one review said it didn't fit their headphones (they might have had the ATH-M50x's, but it's the same connector and cable).Got it today and when I went to insert the cable into the headphones, it felt like it was not going to go. Compared it to one of the OEM cables and noticed that the molded channel that the index pins of the headphones slide into seemed slightly more narrow than the OEM cable.Looking inside the port on the headphones, it's clear that the two indexing pins are 180 degrees from each other (and inline with the white marking line on the outside of the port). I held the cable with the channels lined up, gave a firm push and finally felt it seat, then gave the short turn clockwise to lock it in. This definitely will not accidentally disengage!I also noticed it is a TRRS style connector. I plugged the headphones into a set of Edifier MR4 speakers and the headphone jack of a 2014 MacBook Pro and had no audio issues with either. The former is a female TRS jack and the latter, a female TRRS jack. The things I mention here should be visible in the photos I uploaded. Hope it helps someone else who might be on the fence. And the "red" that's in the cable is far more subdued that I thought it might be based on a couple of reviews. It's there, but not distracting at all, at least to me. :)

Survived 5 years of daily desk use
My audio technicas only get used at my desk, but see multiple hours of daily use. Ordered in 2019. In 2023 the cable was starting to fray at the headphone end, so I got some shrink tubing and put that on the damaged area. Now in 2024 the cable is finally beginning to short so I'm buying another one of these.I'd like to see some more reinforcement at the headphone end of the cable, or a steel-braided version, but this definitely lasted far longer than the stock cable.

Only lasted 2.5 months, just buy the official cable
I bought this cable looking to save a few bucks over buying a new official replacement cable. I also liked the idea of a braided cable because they are usually better/less prone to kinks. Boy, was I wrong. This thing kinked like crazy and was overall super annoying to deal with. I would need to unplug it from my headphones just to unwind it. I don't take these headphones anywhere, they are just plugged in at my desk. I wasn't going to go through the hassle of returning them and buying the official cables at this point. They may have been annoying but at least they worked. That was until Feb 22nd. My left ear started cutting out. I just started using this cable when it was delivered Dec 18th. I would have to wiggle the wire to get the left ear to stay on. They barely lasted 2 months! It was actually so bad that I used a different pair of headphones for a day while I waited for another replacement cable to come in.This time I ordered the official Audio Technica replacement cable. It was $10-20 more than this cable but my original pair lasted years before they all broke. I waited until they came in and I used them for a while to confirm that this 3rd party cable was broken. I'm out of the return window now so there is $18 bucks down the drain.Just spend the couple extra dollars and get the official replacements.

Actually better
Good product 👌🏾. As described.. no sound effect etc. Actually better than original cord.

seems higher quality than stock
i think it's more robust than the original, and it matches the headphones better aesthetically too. recommended for ath-m50x. i do wish there was a 2m size, i didn't really want to jump from 1.5 to 2.5, but whatever.

An okay replacement for the original cable
I've bought a few of these cables over the years -- they have usually lasted me a long while before needing replacing, which all cables inevitably do. As of late, though, I have either been unlucky, or there seems to be some quality issue. I had some trouble with one I recently bought, but customer support helped me sort out my issues right away. I really appreciate that, but when the replacement cable, too, stops working after barely over a month of what I would call normal use, it becomes an issue. This is how these cables break:I'll be using my headphones, as usual, when I'll notice a crackling sound / audio cutting out when moving my head in a certain way. When that happens, I know the cable will completely stop working within a few days. At this point, even just slight, day-to-day movements of your head will exacerbate the damage to the cable near where it connects to your headphones. They always break in exactly the same spot, in the same way, and it's hard to not to feel that they are cheap by design -- not just to save money during manufacturing, but to ensure that you need to buy another cable a few months down the line. At this point, I'd be happy with a few months of use -- that timeline, for me, seems to be shrinking.
