Useful little book
It gives a good rounded account of how to set about putting a pool in a garden which I am about to do. I shall keep it for reference for the actual construction and also advice on what plants I should put in.

The absolutely best book on WILDLIFE PONDS
The tiniest is the winner? How that? Reading this booklet of only 32 pages ( new 2016 edition with 80 pages and many photographs) makes you wonder why you did spend all that money for thick and shiny books on this topic. You looked at those stylish photographs and probably were afraid of the costs for sophisticated fountains and circulating pumps. Maybe you racked your brains, if you wanted goldfish or koi carp. Oh dear! Forget it all ! Jenny Steel knows the facts and tells you the truth, how you can create a real wildlife pond teeming with wildlife. Her expertise is one of a child fascinated by water creepy crawlies - really charming to read her short notes on that - up to an outstanding scientific background. But in the first place she fascinates with her skill to tell the most important things in a straightforward language, always helpful and friendly and absolutely to the point. No rubbish, no nonsense, no pretentious paraphernalia. After having read all those expensive books I am quite shocked about the difference. And I only can admire this author for her giftedness. Every sentence is a true one, an important one, a helping one. The scales fell from my eyes, when I read the booklet. Everything is covered, but remember, only really important things. Important for attracting wildlife. This booklet is a real eye-opener. I count myself so happy about finally having discovered this precious book. THANK YOU, Jenny Steel !

Lacking in detail
This is a book ABOUT wildlife ponds, not really a detailed how-to guide. I've used this book as a guide on the do's and dont's, but have had to refer to the internet on all aspects of the execution. For example while there are lots of photos of pretty flowers and frogs, there are no diagrams to help with aspects of digging, lining and planting. It's good to have one authoritative opinion on what should and shouldn't be done, because a google search will give you a million completely different opinions, but if like me you're creating a pond of your own, you won't get from start to finish with this book alone.

A great guide to creating a wildlife pond
I was concerned that this book was so small that it would not be useful. How wrong I was. This book is a great inspiration and is a useful guide to everything related to creating a wildlife pond. It is full of great tips and pleasing photographs. There is no need to buy any other book on the subject and is very good value. I am inspired to buy more books in this series and compimentb5he other on her easy , but informative style
