While on a recent trip to Egypt, we saw these pens displayed and were also inundated with sellers offering them to us in many sites of the tour. However, we put off buying any and realized we had no pens as we were on the plane heading home. I don't know what made me look to Amazon, but there they were. Exactly like the ones offered in Egypt and perfect for our grade- and middle-school grandkids. Thank you Amazon. Thy all work as pens and the kids loved the Egyptian look.

The pens are nice but one was broken.

I used this as prizes for an Egyptian themed event. They were perfect. My guests loved them.

Flimsy. Head of one was broken off in the individual bag. Bastet, the cat, was not painted shiny gold like the other 4 pieces ... was a very dull mustard color, The plungers to push down the penis behind the heads. A black accordian piece with a gold pin in it. Every pen but one had the pieces off and in the bag so I had to put back in. They do not stay and when pressed, fl off. Details are cute but they really aren't usable as pens. Mayb to display. Plus pics are deceptive, it shows 7 pens but you only get 5 and no way to pick which 5 you want. I was very disappointed. The heads are on very thin plastic neck pieces which I'm sure will break in a minute. I requested a refund. It's a shame because they are somewhat cute and detailed. Just too cheaply made and breakable. Similar to Dollar Store quality ... maybe even more flimsy... Disappointed.

I am in the process of making a 1/16 scale WW2 DAK diorama and I wanted to have the Afrika korps Vehicles and crew gathered at some ancient ruins. So first thing I did was to take apart the actual pen innards and then start chopping and cutting them to look old and weathered, then after a primer coat, it was spray a light sand textured paint and then following up with dry brushing the highlights and a couple of thin umber washes to get the effect I was looking for. Once the main base "ruins" are finished these will be placed in the ruined surroundings, ready for Rommels DAK to gaze upon and wonder.
