Into The West - clipping issues when playing
Glorious music of a glorious film... *But the CDs may have issues*.I was most disappointed by the clipping going on in "Into The West" (the first tune I played) - one of my favourite pieces from the films. It really is quite extreme, and really, really spoils listening to that beautiful track. It's the same thing I've heard on a few Youtube posts of the same tune so I'm guessing I'm not the only person who's had this issue. I'm just trying to sit and listen to the whole lot now, to work out if it's just that one tune. I've copied at 320kbps.[UPDATE: Grey Havens also has the clipping issue, it's not just Into The West... *BUT* I seem to have found a solution. After much mucking around, I've managed to get the tracks I was having issues with to copy to my computer without clipping. Step 1: cutting down *all other stuff* my computer was doing seemed to help - so no other things going on. I turned off the screensaver - that seemed to help too, as did doing the tunes one at a time. Playing the tune *from the disk* at the same time as ripping that tune, also seemed to help. The last attempt (the one that worked) had all these things in play, plus one more thing: I didn't delete the previous copy of the tune. I have no idea whether Windows Media Player somehow repairs files, spotting as it was ripping the breaks in the two supposed-to-be identical files, but anyway, it plays fine now. Into the West was the trickiest one to get to copy without clipping.]I'm only using my computer to play it at present - I was worried when another reviewer said that their last disk only plays in a DVD drive so I'll be getting my husband to check them with his CD player too. If I find any more faults, I'm definitely sending it back - in two minds at the moment as I bought it a while ago, giving it to my husband to hide from me for a birthday present months later. Amazon is usually pretty good about returns, and given there have been at least 10 reviewers with a problem, I'm going to bet they'll be willing to take it back and either send out another or issue a refund. As for the boxset itself, I was a bit sad that this is *not* the music for the extended edition of the films - this is the music as you would have heard it on the cinema releases, but to be fair the other version doesn't seem to be available anyway. A few folks complain that it doesn't exactly *do* much as a boxset. I can't check the special stuff you're supposed to get to find out what it is, because I apparently I need to mess with internet permissions for software on my computer (specifically Adobe) to allow it to do something that it doesn't do at the moment (I have no idea!) - but that's probably more an issue with me than the boxset: I have an obsessive hatred for people collecting personal information from me without asking first, or obliging that I give it them in exchange for something I need access to.I will say the boxset is actually pretty simple - it is what it says it is. Nothing special, just all three of the separately sold music disks, packaged together for what is ideally a cheaper price than if you bought them as singular instalments. There *is* one sort of nice little thing they've added in: a series of CD sized glossy film posters (or at least they're presented that way) featuring photos of the various characters (not all). Unless you're going to glue them all into a massive poster, there's not really much you'd do with them, although I would say any card-makers out there might put them to good use ;)I'll try to get my husband to play these in his car and edit this review accordingly.

A treat for all LOTR fans
Sitting in my warm living room in my couch, a cup of tea on the table next to a couple of candles, outside it is dark, wet and cold, I am reading my newest edition of LOTR - and listening to this marvelous CD. I have a craving after mushroom soup followed by a pipe of good tobacco. I can almost feel the hair on my feet start to grow and curl.

Great soundtrack
After having purchased the Lord of the Rings Trilogy on 4K UHD and rewatching the movies, I realised how much I liked the soundtrack to the films. This CD set has the soundtrack of all three movies in a boxed set. The outer cardboard is very flimsy card, but is functional. Each CD comes in their own jewel cases and are just the single movie CDs in one box set - not necessarily a bad thing!Beautiful music, perfect for having on in the background while I work. Great for LoTR fans.

Amazing music but cardboard packaging is disappointing
The edges of the cardboard cover were already worn away to the white paper underneath before I even took the plastic cellophane off. With buying the three as a set I expected a little more than just the three regular CDs in a poor quality cardboard cover. Disappointing.BUT goes without saying the music itself is of course incredible and Howard Shore is a complete and utter genius. Will forever be my favourite music. Flawless.

Like re-living the films without actually viewing them
I've lost count how many times that I've watched The Lord of the Rings Trilogy in its entirety but 10 hours approx in front of a TV is a BIG chunk of time! I first listened to the box set of CDs back to back one Saturday afternoon while doing chores around my flat. It was simply wonderful but I'm sure everything took me longer to do as I paused frequently to savour the beautiful music. Listening to each piece evoked scenes from the films and I was pretty much lost in a daydream throughout. Some reviewers have said that they found the recording to be too quiet -I didn't experience this, in fact there are some pieces that build up and become very loud! I found that I occasionally had to rush to the stereo to turn the volume down for fear of disturbing the neighbours.I think these CDs would make a lovely gift for any fan of the LOTR movies. I snapped up the box set immediately when I saw it -I could hardly believe that it was cheaper than many prices I'd seen for a single CD from just one of the films! I'm extremely happy with this purchase :-)

TLOTR: HIGHLY ACCLAIMED MUSIC!
Highly acclaimed music. The music is notable and could be considered a 'modern classic' with its 'Concerning The Hobbit' theme. There are some notable vocals from Enya and Annie Lennox and 'Golum's Song' is particularly interesting. The box set covers all three soundtracks to all three films and also has a nice set of collectable art cards. The music is the soundtrack to 'The Lord Of The Rings' films.
