The Beading Answer Book Review: The Beading Answer Book - Excellent! - I am just getting started with beading and found the Beading Answer Book very clear and informative. It answered questions that I hadn't even thought or knew about. I liked that it combined a lot of various information concerning any and all things "Beading". Included are a helpful index, glossary and resources list. The book answered my questions on what the karat difference between the 10-K, 14-K, 18-K, and 24-K gold is. It covered the topics of gold, gold-filled, gold-plated and vermeil. The same type of topics for silver and other metal findings were also covered. There was so much information provided that made this book so enjoyable and informative. I also liked the question and answer format. I had many of the same type of questions. The author has many good "illustrations", "charts", "ideas" and "pointers" included in the book. This all combines to make the book a clear and valuable source of beading information. The information was arranged in chapters so you are able to find the information you want quickly. For a small sized book (6.3 x 4.5 x 1.1 inches), there is a lot of information packed in the 432 pages. The heavy cardboard covers and cloth binding seem sturdy. I realize the use of these material would help keep the cost of this book reasonable and I felt this price was very reasonable considering all the information contained. However, I hope the book materials will hold up with use over time. The only things I would have liked to add - in my personal opinion - are color photos and a larger size book (and print size), they would all be welcome. However, these things would just be enhancement that would not at all effect the information contained. I keep this book very handy and find that I frequently refer to it. I have a lot of other beading books, but I find this book much more informative on a greater variety of beading information. The other books I own have a focus on specific topics, not the overall look at beading. I would definitely recommend this book to anyone interested in learning more about beading. Review: Knowledge! - Everything I could have ever wanted to know about beads. This author is very educated in beading and they put a LOT of time into this book, I can tell that they've been beading for years. I'm a brick stitcher but this helped introduce me to even-count peyote! I'm especially impressed with the back of the book, there are ALL kinds of resources out there that I didn't know about. I started making jewelry about 5 months ago and started stitching with a needle just 2 months ago but beading has become everything to me and I'm so happy to have this book in my collection for reference. Some things so far I've learned the hard way when I should've just checked this book first, particularly about the durability of some beads, I beaded a rustic American Flag design, using some matte golden-white coated beads. By the time I went to photograph them, the coating was coming off. Experience and this book combined, I hope to be as educated in beading as this author one day!

I have referred to this so many times. It is a great resource. The author covers everything in a question and answer format. I love it and I am glad I purchased it.

Great little book
Bought this on a whim & didn't bother to look at much more than the description at the top of the page, was happily surprised at the size since most of my jewelry making books are magazine sized or larger or all kinds of weird sizes/shapes, this will fit easily in a purse or pocket so I can read it while running around instead of just when I need to look something up like with my other books. Thoroughly covers the topics. I've been reading at least 1 entry a day, some I knew, others I wasn't interested in, the one I read last night rather blew me away because I've been making illusion necklaces & am sick of measuring over & over. It said to use a plastic drinking straw cut to needed length to measure. This has just paid for itself just with that 1 tip.

Excellent!
I'm a newbie to jewelry making, but have read several of the top-rated books on Amazon about it. "The Beading Answer Book" holds a lot of information in a small package (small enough to carry in a purse or bag). Morris answers many of the questions I had after reading the other books. The author has a background in repairing beaded jewelry, and several of the tips she gives are very useful for making more durable pieces. One small annoyance: neither the written explanation or the (one) drawing of a figure-eight knot is enough for me to understand how to do it!

Fabulous reference book
My friend showed me her book and I ordered one right away from Amazon, my #1 go to place to buy books. This is a terrific reference for me as a casual beader who is not an expert in any particular area. Every question I encountered is one I've asked only to have to go to many books, magazine, online to find an answer, wasting so much time, I drop the project. The answers to the questions are clearly written with additional references to other pages as needed. I learned so much just flipping around and reading questions and answers and saying "Aha!" "Oh, that's how it's done!" "Wow, that's easy!" and "Duh". I'm thrilled with this reference and don't feel I will need another for quite awhile. Well worth the price for beaders of all levels.

Excellent!
I've been a self-taught avid beader for over 36 years. I just received this book and can't put it down. I'm learning so many new tips and hints to make my progress easier. Everyone who enjoys creating with beads will find this book very useful, whether you are brand new or very experienced. Which threads, needles, findings to use; best way to organize beads; how to make your own handy tools, finishing; just about everything you could think of. What a fantastic (but thorough) little book!

This book started off as a good read...it included a lot of information on knitting, crocheting with beads which did not interest me. Still have other questions which this book did not have the answers for.
