Folding walkers are usually shipped with wheels on the front and plastic tips on the back. Do yourself a big favor and buy a set of ski glides. You will be delighted at the difference in your mobility this makes. I bought the black ones, because they not only look more stylish than plain white ones, but also make it easier to see where your feet are (important, if you don’t want another fall).You will probably need to use a hammer to (lightly) tap them into the tubes. They do stay secure and they are easily removed by twisting them out. I’, glad I bought mine.

I got these for my father-in-law, who had started using a folding walker more (he has a rolling walker), and who does not lift the walker when he moves it, which means he catches the back "feet" on carpets or pavement cracks all the time. I had seen these before, but this was the first long term use of them for him.After about 5 months, he comes home one day missing one of the skis. We all assumed he had snagged it on something so I just fabricated a temporary replacement so he wouldn't scratch the floor. It wasn't until I went to replace it that I realized that he had completely worn through the one ski in about 5 months of intermittent use. Now, he probably used it about as hard as one can use it, as he dragged it everywhere, on every surface (from carpet to asphalt), and put a bit of weight on it too. But the other ski still has quite a bit of material left on it.I'm not knocking it a point for durability, as I figure they outlasted several sets of tennis balls or ordinary walker tips, but rather because the leading edge isn't quite tall enough to keep it from going under floor mats, and they also tend to spin a bit on the walker, so they aren't always heading straight ahead (I had to straighten them about once a week).

I used these to replace the worn out glides on a folding walker make from 1in tubing. They are a force fit. I had to put one end of the tube on a concrete floor and hammer the other end hard with a hammer. It may help if you put a 45degree bevel on the outer edge of the glide stem to help it get started into the tube. I did one each way.

These skids arrived very quickly. They were easy to install and seem to work just fine. I thought the service and packaging were excellent.

This is my second purchase of these and like the first, these are a tight fit and may necessitate some sanding or filing, you can use a razor blade too, but very unsafe. Just take your time and test fit as you go along. I think the company wants to have it tight as a walker should be safe and movement of these ski may be unsafe. Still I think even making then slightly smaller in diameter and testing them on walkers will improve these item. Anyway, these do make moving a walker across the carpet much easier and they do seem robust and wear very slowly if used on carpet. If your an older person and the fit is not perfect it will be a bit of a pain to insert, so either have some sandpaper or file handy or get someone to do them for you. Should you lack patient, you can still fit these partially, but safer to have it fully seated and even.1) Durability, built quality 52) Fit 4

Modified a 4 wheeled walker by removing a set of wheels and installing these sliders. Very little modification required to install. Provides a little more peace of mind that the friction of the sliders will prevent the walker from ‘getting’ away on the user.

Cheap quality. Don’t waste your money. Had to return it.
