4 stars - aaargh...
I've given series one and two 5 stars. This series I've only given 4 stars. At the end of series 2 the Kaiba corp blimp was heading to the battle city finals. Then we head off at a tangent and meet a boy called Noah. This entire story arc is completely out of place here. OK its a good story and my only minor gripe is the rule change for deckmasters, whose special abilities seem to be made up almost as they go along. However good it is it just makes no sense to stick it in the middle of the battle city story line, so we spend 25 episodes holding our breath for battle city to recommence. When it does arrive the finals are awesome. Maybe there are too many magic cards I've never heard of but that doesn't spoil the entertainment. The last two episodes don't have any duels. The final episode is mainly a retelling of Joey's duels for Serenity's sake and is completely forgettable.I just can't go to 5 stars with a storyline that broken up.

NTSC to PAL conversion failure | RUNNING 4% FASTER
Audio high pitch and video too fast thanks to shoddy conversion. In simple terms, I have discovered that the audio and video of seasons 1,2 and 3 are affected. Sadly they are at a noticeably higher 'play' speed than they should be - 4% faster.I imagine that this has occurred at the re-encoding stage when it was converted from the American format of NTSC to UK PAL.I must say that it is really irritating that all of the characters’ voices, music and SFX are a ‘key’ up / octave higher then what they are supposed to be and due to my long time love of the show, it bothers me beyond belief.Another problem that seems apparent is the quality of the video. Once again I assume due to the conversion from NTSC to PAL...There are interlacing issues, that, admittedly can be fixed by applying a deinterlacing filter but this is not the point. For the price per unit, the quality is horrendous. However, seasons 4 and 5 (audio wise) are fine. The audio is at the right pitch and speed. But once again there are interlacing issues with the video causing horizontal lines to be displayed when fast and quick movement occurs, that just ruins my immersion of the show.Just to make clear - I have tested these DVD’s extensively on my DVD player, Blu Ray player and on my computer using VLC player and have concluded my findings to be accurate.I cannot express how saddened I was to discover this, especially considering I have spent over £150 on getting the complete series, seasons 1-5 - Two boxsets from Amazon and the final three from my local HMV.I am bitterly disappointed - I was expecting to hear Dan Green's booming voice as the Pharaoh, but instead, it sounded like the 'normal' yugi was fighting in duels.
