Nikwax Down Wash + Down Proof Twin Pack – Cleaner and Wash-In Waterproofer for Down Jackets, Sleeping Bags and Outdoor Gear, 2 x 300ml

Bought this combo pack to use on a second hand down jacket I'd picked up. The jacket was in good shape but I had no idea where it had been and any water immediately soaked in to the shell and down lining. So I put it through a down wash and then a down proof wash to clean it and give it some protection. The process is straightforward and easy to do but requires time and patience as you have to do multiple washes and then spend a long time drying a down jacket but the end result is worth it, the jacket looks good as new and performs better than new as it now has an amount of water repellency as splashes of water now bead up and roll of the shell.

Used on a Berghaus down sleeveless jacket. It "floofed" up the filling and helped to keep it separated. The waterproofer worked like all Nikwax products, absolutely superb. I'm becoming a proper Nikwax fanboy. I have a box filled with Nikwax products. I've got pretty well everything except the cotton proofer which I have run out of and have to save up for. 🫡🫡🫡

Absolutely brilliant. I've two very aged down coats that are far better quality than newer ones. They were looking really tatty and a bit grubby despite cleaining them with ordinary machine liquid several times. The Nikwax wash is so easy to use, both coats look brand new. The fabric is soft and so clean now, smelling fresh. They're both now well waterproofed also. Water was beading off the coats when I removed them from the machine. Loose a point that each coat has to be washed separately, so it's several hours of cleaning. Highly recommend this product. Cheaper and more environmentally friendly than replacing the coats.

Washed and dried my 5 years old down winter jacket with this after researching how to get the best outcome. The product has clear instructions on each bottle that are clear and easy to follow. The result is great. My jacket looks and feels hardly used. I have enough product left to wash and proof my jacket next year too. So I am happy and got value for money.

I was so happy i bought this for my down coat as it stayed puffy which is great. It was great value for money as in the shops these sell for £9.99 each. My coat smell fresh and clean.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 – Great product, just read the labels properly! So I ordered this thinking it was down feather cleaner… turns out it was cleaner AND waterproofing. My mistake entirely, but let’s just say I learned a few things the hard way, so you don’t have to! Lesson number one! 🟢 Green lid = cleaning 🔴 Red lid = waterproofing Don’t mix them up. Trust me. I’ve got a couple of down jackets that needed reviving, so I grabbed the red bottle first (wrong one), threw my jacket in on a cold wash, and tumble-dried it with tennis balls. Came out fine, but I later realised the green one was supposed to go first… oops. Anyway, second time around I took the plunge and did it somewhat properly on my Canada Goose Snow Montana jacket the older one, thankfully, not my new one! Yes I’m well aware that this voids the warranty however the warranty on this was voided a long time ago this is why I bought another one because I can’t bring myself to chuck this old piece it’s like losing in my leg Here’s what I did, •Green lid first (cleaner), 150ml, gentle wash at 20°C for about an hour (it says 30°C, but I didn’t want to risk the jacket). •Once done, I turned it the right way out. •Then red lid (waterproofer), 150ml, same cycle. Now, here’s mistake number two, I should’ve rinsed it after the cleaning wash before waterproofing and rinsed after waterproofing too I didn’t, and yeah… the smell wasn’t exactly “fresh mountain air.” Tumbled it dry with few tennis balls and a towel, shaking it every 20 minutes. The smell faded slightly and honestly, the results were amazing jacket looks newer, colour’s richer, and the down’s fluffy again. ✅ Quick guide for next time, 1.Green first (cleaner) – 30°C wash 2.Rinse 3.Red second (waterproof) – 30°C wash 4.Rinse again 5.Tumble dry warm with tennis balls or a towel, shake every 20 mins All in all, despite my chaos, it works really well. My jacket feels brand new again. Just don’t do what I did read the instructions properly! REMEMBER- 🟢GOES FIRST 🔴GOES SECOND
