No. The weight of the dot will make it fall out of the socket if it's sideways.

Don't bother, this item is designed poorly and is way to large when holding the Echo Dot for an electric outlet.

Q: Does it block the clock?

You can see it but it’s upside down! Don’t follow the included paper instructions because then you won’t see it. Follow the video and you will see the clock but will be upside down!
