I like bamboo placemats. I have a different set under my cats’s food bowls. They are messy as all get out, and it’s the simplest clean up. I just dust it off most times. Eventually I rinse it, dry it. It’s fine again. I am happy this comes in a set of eight because my kids are even messier than my cats. We‘ll see if tomato or soy sauce comes out. I’m sure it’s a matter of days before I find out. If it doesn’t, I can use a new one. I think the light color of bamboo looks great with whites and blacks.They are heavy and the price is good. The dark wood band is sharp looking. In some ways they offer more protection than fabric (one could probably put warmer bowls directly on the table. I haven’t tried this yet), in other ways less because of the gaps between strands. Sauces could falls through. Personally, I like wiping things clean rather than laundering. Just my preference. It’s the nicest set of bamboo placemats I’ve seen.
