Works great. Germinated in about 1 week.
Works great. Planted in 90 degree weather and no issues. I think the key was having an automatic sprinkler that went off every hour for 2 minutes. It kept the ground moist, but no standing water. Had bought this same product a few years ago and had no success. But, I was new to caring for grass and didn't realize how much water is needed. I suspect the majority of negative reviews comes from lack of watering. It says it will cover 8,000 sqft and I suspect that is accurate. I overseeded as I'm new to growing seed and had low confidence, but it looks like a waste now. Grass is coming in really thick. Which seems like overkill for Bermuda as it seems to spread easily on it's own. Not as important as watering, but I suspect another issue is people aren't tilling the ground enough. I don't know this for sure, but suspect the small plants would have trouble with roots if the ground is tight. I tilled it with a pick axe (ton of work) and then raked it smooth. After the ground was lose and smoothed out, then put the seed down and very gently took a leaf rack (yard broom) to help nudge the seed into a slight bit of soil. Only hard part was tilling the earth. A tiller is a really good idea for this if you don't need the exercise.

This product did not work.
I have two types of Buermuda grass in my lawn. I had a three bald spots in my yard. I planted one type of Bermuda seeds in on bald spot and the Scotss Bermudagrass in the other two areas. The other grass seeds grew within a two week period. The Scotts Bermudagrass has not grown after six weeks. All three bald spots were treated the same. I do not recommend the Scotts Bermudagrass.

It grew here in Florida
I didn't count the germination rate. I just wanted to get some new grass under the area where the trailer was at and to patch a few brown spots. It was just a 1lb. bag but it covered what I needed. That was a few weeks ago and it mostly cam up. I'd say the growth rate was ok, but not super fast; just ok. I', not disappointed but also not overly thrilled either; thus barely 4 stars.

Amazing like all of Scott’s products
This stuff is amazing. Keep in mind, bermuda is only for hot weather. The coldest the weather can be is 70°+ or I promise it will not grow. I’m in Phoenix, Arizona and my ryegrass was dead for about a month from the heat, but night temps weren’t hot enough for Bermuda. I put this Bermuda down and Scott’s fertilizer, exactly 7 days later my lawn is super thick, dark, beautiful green everywhere. All of the other lawns around us are the ugly summer grass that is lime green and looks like it’s dying. This stuff really makes your yard look damn good. Also keep in mind, Bermuda needs to stay wet/moist all day and night. I watered 6-8 times a day for about 5 minutes each time, and this stuff just grew like crazy. As long as you know your grass and the temps it survives in, this stuff is super easy to deal with. Just give it good watering for a week and then once it grows, 5 minutes in the morning, 5 at night. Trust me, I didn’t use to lay summer seed, I just watered the grass but I’ve realized it’s super ugly compared to what you can get for just $40..

Horrible. A complete failure. A complete waste of time and money...
We bought 4 bags of grass seed for our home in North Florida, two bags of this Scotts seed for the front yard, and two more expensive bags of Centipede grass from a smaller company for the back yard. We installed the seed correctly, raking the leaves and then mixing the seed with sand and some quality bagged topsoil we bought at Home Depot, then distributing it by hand to the affected areas. We bought a hose timer and watered both areas religiously. The centipede grass we bought is doing fantastic. It sprouted on day 7 and is going strong. I can provide the link to this product as we got 100% sprouting of that seed. By contrast, the Scotts seed, in spite of what it says on the bag, after 3 weeks of watering, has not sprouted. It is a 100% utter failure. A complete waste of money. I did not keep the bags, as I expected the Scotts seed to NOT be a problem, as I have used it before. I am posting here now, for buyers to BEWARE of this product. If you do buy it, KEEP THE BAGS and the lot number. Either Scotts is selling DEFECTIVE SEED, or this seller is selling EXPIRED SCOTTS seed. I am not out $50+dollars, plus the time to research Scotts seed, plus the topsoil we bought, plus the time to go to Home Depot to get it, plus the time to mix it, distribute the seed, then carefully MOTHER the watering so it would sprout, plus all the water and effort to water it 2-3 times per day WITH ZERO GRASS SPROUTING NOW. So, I am talking about dozens of hours of time for my wife and I. #NEVERBUYSCOTTSAGAIN

Frustrated so far but changed rating
Update 5-20-2019 Scotts gave me my money back as their guarantee on back states. Along with a lengthy letter that details tips on how to get better results. I did everything and more that was necessary including having my sprinkler system set to water the 4 zones affected 6 minutes per zone 7 days per week, unless we had a rain day. Cost me about $225 in a water bill for 4 weeks. But nothing. They claim you have to keep the soil constantly damp and sometimes water it 2 to 3 times per day every day in a fairly narrow band of temperature. I can only figure, in spite of my expenditure for watering, it may have had to be less water more often than watering each night once per day. I don't know. However, having done some sod work in a small area last year, that was a heck of a lot cheaper and was a no brainer for patching. Of course if you are going to do an entire yard with this seed, you better be prepared for one heck of a high water bill. I plan to be very fair about this review and will update it if I see any future success. So far, I'm having none. I spread the seed in a dozen or so areas that I put fresh soil and fertilizer in spots on my bermuda sodded lawn that for some reason were doing poorly. I dug up some of the old soil, and patched in areas with new soil and then seeded. I set a water program with sprinkler system to water 4 minutes each for the seeded zones starting about 5 weeks ago, around March 1st. Theoretically, within 3 weeks, the grass should be long enough to stop the daily watering. From what I'm seeing, nothing is happening. I am now running an experiment on 4-15 where I put some seed in potting soil where I can water a bit daily and see first hand if the seeds will grow in a "Petri Dish" type experiment. I live in north TX and the weather since March 1st has been a bit chilly at night and we had a couple of days of decent rain. Most of my lawn is fully awake and nice and green but the areas that I've seeded that are seriously struggling. Mostly the grass that is growing in the patches is from existing grass that is either coming across or growing in from underneath. Not from the seed. I will report back in a couple of weeks if I see any progress anywhere from the seed. If not, I will ask for a refund as the bag says the warranty the product. Update 4-22 Added pic 1. After 7 days in pot with potting soil and keeping moist every day, and outside in nice spring TX weather, as you can see, nothing happening at all with growth. Stay tuned for update in another week. Update 4-25 In my prior paragraph I showed how still no growth in a pot. But now I do have growth. So 10 days and I have growth in a pot but no growth outside. Now bear in mind the directions show to use a spreader to spread the seed, which means on top. The only thing I did different was to plant the seeds a half inch down in potting soil and they grew. But lets face it, this is not a good scenario for a yard. If you have to plant it a half inch down to get it to grow, that stinks for a yard. So I went to all the areas I seeded and used a hand tool to rake up the soil some and reseed and then plant them under the soil a bit. That's a lot of work. It's not bad for spot seeding but it would stink for a whole yard. So I can't really poop on the seed for a failure per se since it grows, but for it's application, I would say don't buy it if you're using a spreader. I may actually pursue a refund.

This stuff is amazing
My yard if you wanted to call it that was basically sand due to a weed we call Florida snow. A lot of that was because I had neglected it for years. Then I bought this Bermuda grass along with The Andersons PGF Balanced 10-10-10 Fertilizer with Micronutrients and 2% Iron (5,000 sq ft), and I couldn't be happier. Where I had sand I now have a really thick front lawn of Bermuda grass. I bought Pensacola Bahai for my backyard using the same fertilizer and it's growing but I'm skeptical about it. Just not the same growth rate so I ordered Scotts Bermuda grass and more fertilizer tonight and I'm sure I'll have a nice thick lawn in the backyard shortly. I used a Scotts Whirl Hand-Powered Spreader for Seed, Fertilizer, Salt, Ice Melt, Handheld Spreader Holds up to 1,500 sq. ft. Product to put it down. A lot of people look at it and go " What a joke" it's not we used these when I worked at a golf course because you could see the spread, and also because the push spreaders dumped more seed and fertilizer than it distrusted it. This is costly but well worth it. Just remember for the 1st few weeks you need to water every day until the seed takes root.

Honest Review (Palm Beach, FL)
Grass seed purchasing is controversial, and many people have problems. This grass seed is properly marketed and works. I will present the facts and back it up with proof for those in question for success. Facts: Dropped seed Sunday, September 24, 2023, 5 pm Grass was visible 2 days later 90 degrees high temperature 80 degrees low temperature Humidity was 90% each day Photograph is 5 days after September 24, on September 29 Second photograph is 5 weeks after seeding, Saturday, October 28, 2023 How, using common sense skills: 1. Corona Cultivator to break up soil and make fluffy 2. Dropped slow release fertilizer (20-6-9) 3. Dropped grass seed at double rate since grass germinates at 85% per manufacturer label 4. Watered using gentle shower 🚿 nozzle to settle grass seed naturally to make soil contact, 5 minutes slow and gentle 5. Dropped peat moss at thin layer (1/2" depth) 6. Watered using gentle shower 🚿 nozzle to settle, 5 minutes gentle and slow 7. Hand compact tool to firm ground and make soil contact, light pressure to level, tool did the work. Next watering cycle was in morning 9 am. Watering cycle: 9 am, 1 pm and 5 pm, 30 minutes each time total Water drops must make each seed wet and this means full coverage with watering sprinklers Results: 2 days, grass was visible 5 days, grass was at golf course green height, probably a tenth of an inch 7 days, 90% coverage Will continue to water daily for 3 weeks and then cut at 2 inches height. Winter will slow down growth, spring will water three times per week, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday, 30 minutes each time. Manufacturer label instructions are accurate and can be trusted, 100%.
