Puzzle Bobble Everybubble! -- Nintendo Switch

I was excited to play Puzzle Bobble: Everybubble for a while, but it was even better than I was expecting. There’s such attention to detail, such as when selecting options in menus, each time you tap a different note of the theme song for the Puzzle Bobble series plays. When playing with more than one player the puzzles scale up for the extra players. The new bubbles and hazards added to the series keeps things fresh.The story mode is robust and challenging. The story itself is cute, charming, and wholesome while avoiding being annoying, which can be an issue in some games trying to tell a light and cute story. It will take you hours to play through the story and when you do, if you get a 3 star rank on each stage in an area you unlock the EX stages which are significantly more challenging and will keep you entertained for a while. If levels become too difficult or frustrating you can always restart the level with guide lines on so you know exactly where your bubble will land for the trade off of only receiving one star, but you can continue to progress in the story. Each area beaten unlocks a new character to play as in the vs mode and a new costume for your helper characters.The Vs Mode is what you would expect, with local and online multiplayer accommodating up to 4 players. You can play solo vs a cpu like in the classic games as well and can change the cpu difficulty. It’s well executed.There is a mode called Puzzle Bobble vs Space Invaders in which you throw colored bubbles vertically at descending invaders and must match the bubbles to the invader bubbles which shoot projectiles. Your character moves along the ground instead of changing the angle of the bubbles and can be played with 4 players.The art in this game uses a beautiful pastel color scheme that compliments the cute anime characters. I love the retro Puzzle Bobble graphics but this one works extremely well. The voice acting manages to be cute but not annoying. The music is generally relaxing, except for when the bubbles get too close to the bottom when it suitably becomes frantic as you try to save yourself.Overall this is one of the best puzzle games in a very long time, vying for one of the best puzzle games of the decade or even longer. It feels very feature complete and well executed. Puzzle Bobble: Everybubble is an example of how to make a new entry in a classic series. It changes enough to stand on its own against the excellent retro games in the series while staying true to its roots. Do not sleep on this ace puzzle game!

Can enjoy this with the family, either 2v2 or free for all, story mode is quite good too. Controls are easy

Play the OG version when I was a kid and played it with my kids. Got this to play with the kids on the switch. My daughter loves the game who plays a family at times against each other. Great for road trips as well.

The most addicting puzzle game, you can play for hours. I don’t like that is super slow loading. I really like that you can play locally not only online. Also is a second game included, Space Invaders game is super fun!

An aged old classic where you can finally do 4 player bobbling :D

Puzzle Bobble is a lot of fun. It has lots of personality and humor. The downside is if you don't have a brilliant gamer kid who can show you how to do the tougher puzzles, you may never finish the games.
