Tala Icing Syringe Set in A Tin, with Six Nozzles and Icing Booklet

This icing bag set is a great starter kit for any decorative icing. The piping bag itself is strong and sturdy, made of a plastic coated reasonably thick cloth. The internal part of the bag has the plastic coating, making it easy to use and clean, while the outside is cloth, making it easy to grip and hold. The set comes with eight nozzles (numbers 2, 4, 24, 30, 59, 67, 98, 104), all of which have reasonably small openings, so they are good for icing decorations, but maybe not other piping bag functions. They give a good range of shapes and effects. The small decorating booklet is very clear and gives some good ideas, hints and tips for those that have not done much icing before. It follows the same retro styling as the tin. The tin looks nice, with the same decorative retro style as other Tala products within this range. It is a sturdy tin and very useful for storing everything. It measures 17cm (width) x 13cm (depth) x 6cm (height). The tin comes with a flocked plastic insert which holds all of the different components neatly. You can remove this however to get more storage space for other piping equipment that you might have. Overall, a very nice kit.

Brilliant little set, wanted a steel piping set rather than bag, this was perfect, great that it comes in its own tin, and I managed to find other original Tala nozzles too that fit perfectly. Thought at first it wouldn't hold enough but it held a lot more than I expected and piped perfectly. Very pleased with it.

Difficult to find the correct equipment to replace an old icer, but this one did the trick. Nicely presented. Perhaps a bit pricey for what it is, but....

I had high hopes that this icing set would be as good as my previous set which I had used successfully for about twenty years. The quality was nowhere near as good. Not bad if using very soft icing or cream but poor results with firm icing - squelching out at the sides!

Firstly, I should probably say that when I ordered this I had never used a piping bag before - never really iced anything before to be honest. So when I say this was easy to use, that's coming from a complete novice. The tin is a bit flimsy although sufficient for storage of the contents after use and would present well as a gift. The booklet inside was not that informative in terms of using the piping set itself but I managed to ice 24 cupcakes without too many problems after just a couple of minutes practice so instructions are not really needed. This review doesn't sound that positive so far when considering the 5 star rating. Well, here comes the positive part ..... this is genuinely great fun! Opening the tin with it's cute design makes this feel just like a little girl's toy. Choosing the nozzle and trying out the different patterns was really cool. The practice was messy and some of the initial results were truly tragic! I had a great time making the mess and I was able to make a presentable cupcake really quickly. I'd recommend as a gift or as a starter kit or just if you fancy trying out different nozzles without purchasing higher priced equipment. Probably not going to suit anyone looking for a professional quality set but I loved it. Make cupcakes all the time now just so I can play with this set.

Great piping set. Bought for mam who has been trying to find one for years after her much used one broke. She doesnt like the bags and others like this are just plastic so break easily. Apparently exactly the same and was over the moon so brownie points for me!! Made of metal and comes in a lovely storage tin box with little booklet of recipies and some additional nozzles. If anything like her last one should last another 20 odd year lol.

I've never used a piping bag, and really into baking at the moment so I thought it would be a good purchase. The tin is really cute and I love the fact it came with a leaflet to get you started, it was surprisingly easy to use after reading the leaflet. Piping is definitely one of those things where practise will make perfect. Extremely happy with it and will definitely be investing in the Tala collection again.

Why, oh why can't someone create one of these that: a. doesn't leak frosting out the side of the tube? b. uses standard tips rather than proprietary tips? c. is longer to hold more frosting? Doesn't seem like too much to ask for. How hard can it be for a tinsmith to weld the tube closed or, better yet, extrude a solid piece? Used to be able to buy a plastic version from Kmart for $5 that had all those qualities but lacked durability. Unlike others who posted, I received mine in pristine condition with no stains or rust. It did the job but I have a favorite tip for making holly leaves on cookie Santa's hats that I could not use. I'd pay more for one that had those qualities and a frill would be rounded finger grips so extended use doesn't cut grooves in your fingers.
