Maybe I had outlier results or something. This was fantastic.
TW: Scars, surgery, cancerI wrote this for my blog and to share with some members of the trans community, but I also want to share it with anyone else checking into this tape. You can read for more details, but in short, this worked very well and very fast for me. On to the tale!I was recently speaking with a surgeon on someone else's behalf about scar care and they told me unequivocally that for bigger scars, massage and silicone tape (sometimes called scar tape) are the best. He said, explicitly, not to bother with silicone gels, because they aren't well regulated, and worse, there are presently no studies which have scientifically proven their efficacy. The tape, on the other hand, is a demonstrably effective. But for this person, he said don't even bother, it'll be amazing and minimal on its own and the tape won't help too much. Get it if we want to put it over the edge. And now MY story. The next two paragraphs are describing a keloid (raised) scar I have and the steps taken to care for it, just for frame of reference. You can skip them if you prefer.I have a keloid scar which has no know origin - just started growing one day, but I had never been hurt there to my knowledge. It was about the size of half a large olive, and the doctor had two major concerns. First, that it was cancer. Reasonable. Second, and actually a bigger concern for them, was that it's NOT cancer, but a rare condition that is even less treatable. The doctor wanted a biopsy, and because he's a cool doc who sidesteps insurance problems and impractical bs, he "biopsied" the whole thing off, and it came back negative on both - just a keloid scar.About a month later, when he came back to town, (he was the travelling dermatologist for numerous remote cities and towns) I saw him again, because the (expletive deleted for review version) had GROWN BACK. It wasn't as big, maybe a blueberry this time. Instead of removing it, he began a series of injections for several months that caused the tissue to necrotize and left like.. a small cavity, roughly inverse of what was there, and black sickly flesh. Each injection was more than a little painful, but not unbearable and it wore down after about an hour of stinging. We did this for four months, once a month, just to be safe, and then we cut it off. And that (explitive deleted for review version) grew back. To about the same size, same place, and eeever so slowly growing and still occasionally hurting or itching. I'd had it about 9 years when I first had it removed, and this second time around it grew back after about 2 months, got quickly back to its full normal half-olive size, and went back to extremely slow change, but I didn't live near that doc anymore, so no more injections.Okay, so that was two years ago. Then, about 2 weeks back, the scar tape we ordered after talking to the surgeon came in the mail. We figured, well heck, we can get it for either of us and use it for the other. Doubly excused, no regrets. This brand I'm writing about and have used is********** CicaTape: Soft Silicone Tape 1.57x59 inch **********and it's a long strip with tear away sections that are roughly square. We read and followed the instructions and left it on at all times, through shower, sleep, whatever. After 8 days my partner thought it might need to be replaced (you can apparently clean and reuse them, actually, but the roll has about 40 patches worth). We waited 2 more days until it was starting to come up at the edges, and I kid you not, this (expletive deleted for review version) is HALF the size it was. From Dry.Silicone.Tape.It has also dropped a little bit of its redness and is now more pink, but my mind is boggled. I expected this to take months to notice difference, and I immediately assumed my partner was experiencing some confirmation bias, but no, it went from lump to nub. I wish I had known I'd want before and after pictures! We swapped that one out for a new patch and I guess we'll just see if it keeps shrinking, or if it comes back when we stop. If I need to use it for swimming season every year, fine by me XD I probably only noticed this patch at random three times in the 10 days. Super unobtrusive and thin. When I bought this in October 2020, it was 16 bucks (USD) for the roll.In short, the tape worked phenomenally. I want to note that I'm white as (expletive deleted for review version) as far back as genetics can see, meaning my skin is a lot less likely than others to experience keloid scarring. This is my only significant raised scar, so it could just be fantastic lucky results, but I can tell you, they sure are results!!

Great silicone tape
I have been using it on my large scar on my stomach. It has been helping to thin out the scar. I cut it in half since I don’t need the full width of the roll. You can wash and set to dry reuse. This makes the roll go a long way.

sticks great , its only been a few days since i have used it , and still is very sticky . the recent open heart surgery cut seems to look way less pink and seems to be working even though its a few days. i even sleep with it on and no issues like i have read - it is very sticky, but easy to remove .and can be used over and over . after time it just looks dirty , used , and beat up from use, but this is normal wear an tear. another thing i like is i dont have to use tape and guaze to cover the cut, i dont like looking at this scar and this tape is awesome, it does 2 things, it covers the wound/scarand sticks great without any use for other tapes, and it hides the pink/raw cut. u can still see through it a little , but all in all i dont see a raw cut - im happy with this so far - i will update in a few weeks with the outcome --UPDATE ---its 2 weeks since i wrote the review , the color of the scar is great, it is not that ugly raw pink color anymore . it is healing great, and im sure this has helped a great deal.. the scar looks good, i hate looking at it , but this has made it a little easier, not being so raw looking. i will be using this for a few months to see how well it heals - this is a new incision, not an old one .so i cant speak about old scars. i will update here an there, to help some1 decide to try it or not , but im very pleased so far. not only does it cover the wound , but it can be used over and over , im not spending money on tape and guaze anymore, it sticks great to clean dry skin and is easy to remove . it changed the look and color of this new incision so far.3 years update. The scar from the surgery is very hard to see I used the tape for a full year and a half limited the length of time it was on and kept it on when I felt like I didn’t want to be reminded of my cut. I’m not sure if it was my doctors great work or this tape. But I’m verrrry pleased and happy with the scar I look at daily. I’m sure this had a lot to do with the healing of the cut. 100% love this tape. I have this in my cabinet still to this day.

high quality product, but has its cons
PROS:-it worked fast for me. i saw improvements within a week (new scar) and it really felt like it quickened the process of my scar settling and getting to a place where it can begin to fade. i had my surgery only ~2.5 months ago, but i can already press and drag on the scar to drain out the blood and see what it'll look like after it's done fading (if that makes sense). saved me several months of healing time!-i can shower and sleep in them without issue, so they stay on me all the time-easy application and removalCONS:-the perforated lines often tear while the tape is on my skin, which can make them frustrating to remove, clean, and put back on. it also leaves little gaps in between the squares and some of my scar would be exposed and not getting its treatment.-i had to change them every 5-7 days, which isn't that often, but it's quicker than what i hear a lot of people saying. they'd lose their adhesion and would get dirty, and the edges would often fall off and not stay on after 3 or 4 days, though my scar is pretty long.-i'm personally going to take a break from these after ~1.5 months of using them because i feel like i need to work on softening and loosening my scar, which is something this product isn't good for.
