Hobbies Birch Plywood 6mm x 2x1ft, Wood

I needed a sheet of plywood for a project and this met all my needs.I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

I ordered this in order that I could chop it into smaller pieces for pyrography. It’s a much more cost effective way of buying decent ply doing it this way. When it arrived I was impressed by the quality and it has one really good side with no plugs, knots or imperfections. I sanded it down with a very fine grain paper but you could probably get away without doing this as it was well finished. I then set about a project. It burned quite well but not as good as other ( more expensive) ply I’ve tried. It did ‘blow back’ occasionally which was probably the excess glue used to sandwich the ply together however I ended up with a pretty good finished piece so I’m happy. I think I may well try doing a few paintings on my other bits and I know it will be perfect for that. It would also be great for modelling, internal walls for a dolls house, little plaques etc. I really wish it was easy to buy beech ply as this always burns well. This is birch ply and I still feel it’s economical and a good second best and for that reason I would buy it again.

Exactly what I needed. I so excited to try it on my new wood dye project.

Used to create a few small boxes to organise my loose router accessories, drill accessories etc

As a product great but I think expensive for one board .

Bought to make dolls house and is ideal though I found it hard to cut and had to borrow a jigsaw so if you plan on an ordinary saw or hacksaw then it will take much longer. Very good quality for my purposes and it had no flaws whatsoever.

It’s flat and it’s got a total of 5 plies; 3 cores and two thinner face plies. It’s decent quality birch ply, it’s clean and it’s not dented and it’s packaged very securely to prevent damage. Did I mention it’s actually flat, so I imagine they actually store the product correctly, unlike some other suppliers who ruin the sheet goods themselves before sending them out through improper storage, just incredible. The grain orientation is across the short dimension of the board which surprised me. Not a problem for this project, something to bear in mind. I am happy to pay for the proper storage, proper packaging and knowledge that I will almost certainly receive a piece of ply which is ready for a high quality application. Rather than saving a few pennies and dealing with the headaches of other dim witted suppliers. Hobbies are reliable in my opinion.

Used to replace pieces damaged by salt water ingress on my boat. Not sure if it is marine grade, but as this is an interior fitting, does not matter really. Finished with some Matt varnish, all good.
