The Museum of Mysteries (4) (Maths Quest)

My maths mad 6 year old loved this.
My 6 year old son loved this and did it all in one go (it took him about an hour - much longer than he's usually engaged without adult help!).The questions are fairly quick and involve very basic fractions, percentages, addition, factors, multiplies and number awareness. So for example one of the questions gives the year in which four swords were made (e.g. 1021, 1101, 1034, 1023) and you have to choose which sword is oldest. Another has a list of numbers (2, 4, 9, 16, 25, 32, 36) and you have to decide which is not a square number. In another you have to find from a list of numbers which is a multiple of 5, factor of 100 and even number. If you get an answer wrong you're taken to a page which will explain why it was wrong and how to do the question correctly. The questions fit quite neatly into the story and the illustrations are great too.

Great engaging maths book
Sat down with my 9 year old and two hours later, still reading it! She just had to get to the end!You don't read it in page order, but jump to different pages depending on your answer. It's great for problem solving and using maths skills with an engaging story.Just be prepared to spend a whole morning or afternoon with this when you start. She's now asked for another book in the series. Says it all!

Great book!
I bought this for my 8 year old. He had been reading them at school and got completely obsessed with the. Having an interactive story that the reader can influence, such a good, original idea. He loves them. It's a pity that can only get them online, as I think most keen readers would love this series.

Would definitely recommend.
I struggle with my little boy doing any maths homework so needed something to engage him without him knowing he was actually doing maths. This certainly did the trick. I'm now looking for similar books as once he started this it really was difficult to get him to put the book down. Would definitely recommend.

not too sure about it for over 10's!
I bought it for my 10 year old daughter and she has not enjoyed it. She says that it is for very young children. I read it and I think it is fun. I don't know that is why I gave it 3 stars only.

Excellent book, 7 year old loves it
Excellent book, 7 year old loves it. Reads some before school in the mornings. The questions are challenging enough that he has to think a bit but not too hard it makes it unenjoyable for them.

Great for 8 year old
I bought this for my 8 year old daughter to do on holiday and thought she would just do it once. She loved it and kept doing it over and over choosing different options to provide a different story. Solving puzzles along the way made it even more fun.
