Product Description Academy Award-winner Ron Howard (A Beautiful Mind) once again teams up with Academy Award-nominated writer Peter Morgan (Frost/Nixon) on Rush, a fast-paced and spectacular re-creation of the merciless and legendary 1970s Formula 1 rivalry between English playboy James Hunt (Chris Hemsworth; Thor) and his Austrian opponent, Niki Lauda (Daniel Brühl; Inglourious Basterds). Set against the sexy and glamorous golden age of racing, Rush portrays the exhilarating true story of the charismatic Hunt and the methodically brilliant Lauda, two of the greatest rivals the world of sport has ever witnessed. Taking us into their personal lives and clashes on and off the Grand Prix racetrack, Rush follows the two drivers as they push themselves to the breaking point of physical and psychological endurance, where there is no shortcut to victory and no margin for error."An adrenaline-fuelled triumph" 5 Stars--Total Film"A thrill ride"--Shortlist"A masterpiece" 5 Stars MSN"An inspirational film...magnificent" 5 Stars--GQExtra Features• Deleted Scenes • Race For The Chequered Flag: The Making Of Rush • The Real Story Of Rush desertcart.co.uk Review Ron Howard’s Rush--set in Formula One’s 1970s heyday, when ‘sex was safe and driving was dangerous’--is a gripping story of fire and ice rivalry that makes today’s rights-managed Formula One look as dull as rain. Culminating in the summer of 1976 and filtered through a layer of colour-faded nostalgia, Rush follows the intertwining careers of James Hunt--the English rock ‘n’ roll star of motor racing--and his chief rival Niki Lauda, a prickly newcomer with a head for engineering and a Spartan work ethic. Chris Helmsworth plays Hunt, as sporting a playboy as the late George Best, striding handsomely around Monaco’s sunlit racetrack with an open shirt and a hairfull of shining wind. Bankrolled by aristocratic friends and at ease among the sport’s Riviera set, his career and his popularity are overshadowed when Lauda (made enormously likable by Daniel Brühl) catches the eye of an ambitious Ferrari team on the lookout for a new breed of racing driver. As Hunt drifts though a string of beds, boozers and petty brawls, Lauda patiently racks up the points, spending long nights obsessing over his car and those precious milliseconds that can mean an eternity at the margin. A deadly rivalry will do wonders for your career--and Hunt vs. Lauda erupts into snaking dogfights around the hazardous circuits of Monza, Silverstone, and near-fatally at the Nürburgring. Hunt is more alive to the alluring danger of racing--references to the famously large number of women he’s meant to have slept with are left out--but it’s Lauda who pays the higher price, and the film’s dramatic heart is Lauda’s psychological comeback, despite devastating injuries, as he prepares for a final showdown. --Leo Batchelor Review: A real rush - Fantastic film, a gripping portrayal of true life events, with wonderful performances all round. A real pleasure, for any racing fan
At the risk of being unpopular with this review I feel the need to draw some comparisons with the Senna documentary that the majority of you will be familiar with. I found Senna very drawn out and although interesting, just didn't grip me. Rush is far less documentary, and more cinematic movie and it had me gripped to my chair from start to finish - it was a true feast for the eyes and ears and something every racing/F1 fan will love. Ron Howard has such a fantastic vision for this movie and it paid off. Chris Hemsworth & Daniel Bruhl put on oscar-worthy performances. The passion put into this to make it true-to-life (on-track, at least) from both actors was highly commendable and they both gave it their all. Chris especially has some new respect from me as an actor as I hadn't rated him that highly in prior movie performances... He really got into the mindset of James Hunt and it comes across brilliantly. Daniel too - the likeness in attitude and drive were scarily comparable to the real Nikki Lauda. The timeline of events is accurate, the rivaly is true-to-form, but the hatred and dislike sometimes felt a bit forced. The off-track relationship with James & Nikki was that of friendship and though there's a hint of this towards the end of the movie, their off-track relationship was never expanded or demonstrated upon this movie. It would have made the movie complicated and blurred the lines so I fully respect and understand their decision to omit that. Truly one of the greatest eras and rivalries in this sport

great fun thrill ride for all film fans, formula1 or not
A cracking film. Although it is not necessarily completely historically accurate as has been advised by some other reviewers and I agree with them on this point with the fact that actually both Hunt and Lauda didn't want to race at Germany in August 1976. However, the performances of Chris Hemsworth as James Hunt and particularly Daniel Bruhl is Niki Lauda are sensational, with both actors accents spot on and personality traits also bang on the money (Lauda was a great driver but also a tactician who was disliked by even his teammates and Hunt is a womanising, alcoholic but funny personality who was very popular). The characters hold the film together but what makes this a special film is the view from inside the drivers helmet, inside the car cockpit and brilliantly close to the action, the cinematographer of "Slumdog Millionaire" and this Anthony Dod Mantle has done the impossible and made us get an idea of what it feels like to drive an F1 car without actually doing it obviously. This is director Ron Howard's best film since Apollo 13. Although it is brilliant, it is not quite the "Senna" (2010) documentary in terms of content. Stylish, great thrill ride though and above all else, fun.

Brilliant film
I have been waiting ages to see this; although I wanted to see this on the big screen, I did not want to go on my lonesome. I am a Formula 1 fan, although the events that 'Rush' is concerned with happened some 10 years before I was born and therefore I only had bits and pieces to go on from. Therefore I was watching this with open eyes. It has to be said that from start to finish, I was completely engrossed. It covers the rivalry between James Hunt and Niki Lauda from before their Formula 1 days to the 1976 season. It always feels a bit weird watching something that is based on a true story as you kind of feel that you know what is coming, but there is plenty going on so you don't feel that you know exactly what is coming next. There is a human interest in the film, such as their relationships and their struggles to get to the top, so the film will appeal to those who are not Formula 1 fans (though it helps if you like action). For someone like me who does not remember the tough times in the sport with the high number accidents, this film did serve as an eye-opener. Overall, it is a brilliant film that is worthy of the praise it has received and one I look forward to watching over and over again. My one regret is that I did not go to the cinema on my own to see this - it would have looked incredible on the big screen.

Hunt and Lauda
Two men, both extremists and their rivalry for each other as talented racing drivers both determined to win at all costs is brought to light in this thrilling and powerful movie. Despite their feud, Hunt and Lauda had a huge amount of respect and love for each other which was prevalent throughout their careers. A wonderful film, strong acting.

A thrilling and intense biographical sports drama. Rush captures the fierce rivalry between Formula 1 drivers James Hunt and Niki Lauda with incredible energy and authenticity. The racing sequences are exhilarating, the performances—especially Chris Hemsworth and Daniel Brühl—are outstanding, and the story balances personal drama with high-speed action perfectly. A gripping, well-crafted film that keeps you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

Absolute Empfehlung!
