Love love love this book
Love love love this book! I am from England living in the USA and this book has all the pies I remember eating growing up. A great selection of pies from savory to sweet! Easy to follow recipes.

The photographs are worth the price
I was looking for a recipe for chicken, mushroom and leek pie which I remembered was such a big part of pub life in England. Came across a wonderful recipe which was from this book. Loved the author's names, had to buy the book. All diets on hold :)

The only pie book you will ever need.
Marooned as we are in central France, where they don't even know what a pie is, let alone how to cook one, this book is a real treat. Adding to my wife's already extensive pie repertoire, there are recipes here to invigorate the imagination of even the most experienced pie cook - try the Jamaican patties; the pasty will never win any awards from the low cholesterol brigade but, my goodness, it's worth the coronary. As well as being a beautifully presented book, every recipe we've tried has been a great success, both in the making (the recipes have clearly been properly tested) and, from my point of view, in the eating. If you only ever buy one pie book in your life, buy this one.

I live in the UK and was recommended this book by my sister
I live in the UK and was recommended this book by my sister, so purchased and have since purchased for my son who lives in the United States. If you really want to know what a good British pie tastes like, this book is for you. Dave and Si cookery books are always big on flavour and this pie book does not disappoint, superb recipes. The chicken, leek and ham recipe is to die for, definitely a must have for the kitchen bookshelf!

10 out of 10 to the Hairy bikers
This book is up there with the best cook books ever. I cannot fault it at all, only praise. There is many many yummy pie recipes but that’s not all. They do all the side dishes to go with it too which is a great bonus. And it’s not just pies with pastry either, there is potato topped recipes too. And the thing I love most, and thank the Hairy Bikers for is, in each recipe the pastry part is included. Most books say refer to pastry section for the pastry part, which I find annoying. But in this book each pastry or potato part is included in each recipe. And apart from the fish recipes (because i don’t like seafood) I would happily make nearly all the recipes in this book, of which there are many. I cannot wait to get started.

Poor navigation spoils a good book
I have the kindle edition and I am in 2 minds about returning it for a refund. I have paged through and looked at most of the recipes and most look like something I would like to cook, so that's always a good positive with a cookbook. I do think though, that some of the recipes are unnecessarily complicated and there are a few with hard to find ingredients. There was one that jumped out at me with some strange type of pastry I had never heard of, which you could buy if you had a good ethnic shop. I don't understand why chefs do this, not everyone lives in a city with half a dozen different ethnic shops nearby. Either give a recipe so that people can make it or suggest a reasonable alternative that works. If you can't then that recipe isn't really accessible and shouldn't be in the book. The real problem comes in the navigation. I think I would be perfectly happy to give 4 stars if I had bought the physical version. However I bought the kindle book. There is an accessible TOC, however this only gives chapter headings and the index -- No recipes, so you can't go directly to any. The index does usefully list all the different recipes with ingredient headings BUT it directs you to page numbers, no direct links to the recipes. So the only way you can find anything is to do a keyword search. I'm guessing that the publisher just copied the TOC and index directly from the physical edition without bothering to consider that it's not usable on a Kindle.Looking at the reviews I'm not the first person to have said this and I should have paid attention before I bought it but I'm not sure that the hassle of trying to use the book is even worth the small 99p cost.

So Very Pleased With This Book
I bought this book to go with the hairy bikers deep fill pie maker. I love pies of every description so long as they don't contain kidney. This book is beautifully presented and well worth the money spent on it. There are pies of every description, not all have pastry tops and not all are of the savoury variety. I don't mind that, I didn't expect them to be. Having read right through from cover to cover I can tell you there is just a very small handful I know I will never make simply because I either don't like some of the ingredients or they contain things like venison or oysters. There are many, many recipes that don't have pastry lids but can be very easily adapted for me to make in my pie maker machine. For instance, curry pasties will become pies and so will several others. I rarely have pies as a main meal simply because I only know how to make the fillings for just a few good ones, for example, chicken fillings have always escaped me, mine are just simply C**P, it doesn't matter how hard I try I just can't make them to taste more-ish. This book has opened up a whole new world for me, well, for once I might be able to make a decent chicken pie, now that really will be something new. There are so many recipes that sound absolutely delicious and I can't wait to get started especially as I now have their deep fill pie maker. Only a couple of gripes, the paper sleeve cover was torn in two places but underneath was the shiny hard cover that was completely undamaged so I soon got over that, and the other gripe is there wasn't a picture for every single recipe, the pics there are showed me all I needed to see though and I'm trusting all the recipes that didn't have a picture will turn out looking just as yummy and good as those recipes that did. Highly recommend this book, just waiting for the weekend so I can get stuck in making up loads of pies to freeze for when I want something quick and to hand. Instead of snacking on sweets, biscuits and cakes in the evenings, I'll be snacking on pies, I'm not sure which is the healthier choice LOL

Perfect Pie Happy Husband
Got this book for my husband who loves cooking. He said this is by far the best recipe book he has ( and he has a lot!!). He has tried several recipes and he said they are so easy to follow and I have to say that they have all tasted lovely. Definitely recommend.

Kindle index frustration
Whilst I love having cookery books I’ve been trying to cut down on the number I physically have (and to reduce cost) and have been looking at online options. This seemed a good idea for this title, which has lots of wonderful recipes in it. However, trying to find them isn’t easy, as the number of Kindle pages doesn’t tie in with the index - the physical book which clearly has far less pages! I’ve returned the book and have ordered a second hand version, which will have to be squeezed into my very full shelves! So the three stars relates to the Kindle option only. I know I’ll be giving the physical copy a far higher rating
