I don't toss around 5 stars lightly. However in this case this product deserves the rating. For a start it has been my experience that Braun makes top shelf equipment, so it's already got manufacturer brand reputation going for it. However if you dig a little deeper and do some research you'll find this model gets top marks everywhere; most importantly being doctor's offices. Typically we mere mortals do not have access to the same medical grade equipment that super docs use. Though this is one of those rare cases were professionals are using consumer level products. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there are models that are much pricier with more features, but our pediatrician (among others) uses the Braun ThermoScan 5 and that's good enough for me. Beyond it's endorsement in medical circles you can tell a good product when you use one. The unit itself is substantial and has some weight to it. It only has two buttons making it fairly simple to operate. I found I was able get a temperature without even reading the manual. I have a four-year old son and while he squirmed a little it only took a few seconds to get the result. Before he went into full on thrash mode I was already done! The final thing I like about this purchase is that it came with all the accessories and features. It came with a case to protect it when stored. It was equipped with batteries so it worked out of the box. Braun even includes several ear replacement shields so you can use it several times before needs to buy replacements. Also in the packaging is a guide that tells you normal temperatures for babies, adults and children. It reads in fahrenheit and celsius while requiring very little calibration. There is an initial investment yes, but for a quality product we can have for our family for years to come I found it was well worth the price. Having been taken ill after an operation and having to monitor my temperature I was fed up with sucking an oral digital thermometer for about 5 mins for it to register how hot I was. I was impressed when the doctor and the hospital used the ear thermometer so decided to try one myself. This one not only is quick (1 sec) to register how warm you are but it also stores several readings so you can keep an eye on what is going on, it is also recommended for professional use so you know it is accurate enough to be used at home. Well done Braun for a fantastic product and well done Amazon for offering this at an excellent price - I saw this advertised at nearly twice the price at a well known high street chemist! 5 STARS!!!!!

We brought this for our new baby and it's been an invaluable device, we used it regularly when she was ill, and the whole family has used it since successfully. It's very well made, easy to use and appears accurate and reliable. It has a useful hard case which also stores a pack of the lens filters. This is also the identical model used by all the doctors in our local surgery, so it has a professional reputation. The replacement lens filters keep it hygienic and clean - they are simple to replace and widely available. The device also warns you if it can't take a reliable reading (often with a wriggling baby!) which is very helpful. It can store recent readings for comparison, but we have never used that feature. For piece of mind with young children, this has saved many a trip to the doctor, not to mention the ability to monitor your baby during periods of illness too. Highly recommended product and reassuring for new parents (and families in general).

If you're after a thermometer which can give a good temperature indication quickly, this is the thermometer to have. It's been great to use with our 16 month old. It comes up with a reading within a few seconds and he is very happy to sit there and have his temperature taken, even wanting to have a go himself. This in itself is great and much easier compared to the forehead or underarm thermometers which were always a fight to get a reading with. But as with everything in life, you get what you paid for. In this case for a very reasonable price, it's a thermometer that gives a very quick reading. it's not super accurate like the ones at the doctors but it's good enough to let you know whether you child has a temperature or not, though I would suggest always taking a couple of readings from each ear. Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase having been aware of the limitations of these thermometers at this price point.

Rien à dire après plus d'un mois d'utilisation régulière. Fonctionne très bien, très peu d'écart avec un thermomètre annale, de toute façon quand il y a fièvre, il y a fièvre ! on n'est pas non plus à quelque dixièmes près... par contre, très pratique et plus du tout intrusif ni contraignant pour un enfant. (le mien refusait tout simplement le thermomètre annale et par expérience, peu convaincu par une prise sous le bras et prise dans la bouche pas très hygiénique pour moi... ) Celui ci permet donc une prise de température même quand l'enfant dort sans avoir besoin de le réveiller, L'appareil clignote si l'orientation est mauvaise ou la prise erronée. La lecture se fait en quelque secondes et reste fiable sur plusieurs essais. Il y a des possibilités de mémoire des dernières températures prises mais perso, je préfère laisser la gestion des températures à mes neurones plutôt qu'à une machine, mais ça, c'est perso... Best thermometer, using it for years without any issues

Método práctico y rápido, medición precisa. Lo de los deshechables es un poco coñazo, pero bueno, no es uno por medida ni mucho menos. Cuando tienes niños pequeños es estupendo, porque un niño no aguanta mucho con un termómetro bajo el brazo. Los termómetros digitales miden con margen de error muy grande y a mi al menos no me vale. Los chupetes termómetro, es una utopia, miden sin precisión y si el crío no está acostumbrado a ese chupete en concreto lo escupe en tres segundos. Con este termómetro les puedes medir la temperatura estando dormidos y ni se enteran. Me ha gustado mucho.

Il Thermoscan 5, ossia il Braun IRT 4520, credo sia il massimo in campo domestico per la rilevazione della temperatura. In ospedale, dove mia moglie è stata ricoverata per parecchio tempo, utilizzano un Welch Allyn auricolare che, guarda caso, è un Braun Pro 4000... identico per forma e, sono sicuro, per tecnologia al 4520. Certo forse cambierà la vita media del termometro, ma la precisione credo sia comunque garantita. Misurazione precisa, almeno credo, e, soprattutto, immediata: bastano 2 secondi. In più è dotato di un led di conferma di lettura corretta... in pratica se il termometro non è sicuro di aver fatta una buona lettura vi avvisa. Ottimo prodotto, ad un ottimo prezzo! Grazie Amazon e grazie Biosalus! Aggiornamento 18/09/2013 Ho fatto vari test in giorni e momenti diversi della giornata. Il Thermoscan risulta allineato sia con il mio termometro a galinstano che con i miei due termometri digitali. Rispetto alla T ascellare legge circa 0,1°C in più rispetto agli altri. Rispetto alla T rettale legge circa 0,7°C in meno rispetto agli altri. In questo caso va ricordato che datta T rettale occorre sottrarre circa 0,5°C per avere una T corretta. In conclusione: la T letta dal Thermoscan 5 ritengo sia estremamente precisa, nell'ordine di errore di 0,1°C più o meno. Come da istruzioni NON è opportuno effettuare misurazioni in caso di infiammazioni dei dotti auricolari, perché in questo caso avremmo letture sovrastimate. Aggiornamento 25/01/2015 A distanza di circa un anno e mezzo devo dire che il termometro in questione non mi ha mai deluso. Magari sarà stata fortuna, me è sempre risultato affidabile, veloce e preciso. Ogni tanto faccio delle verifiche con un termometro a galinstano (liquido che ha soppiantato il vecchio mercurio) ed un termometro digitale ad uso pediatrico acquistato in farmacia. Le temperature hanno uno scarto massimo di 0,2°C. Il più delle volte la temperatura viene letta in modo identico dal IRT4520 e dagli altri due termometri. Va solo ricordato che in alcuni casi, come ad esempio nel caso di infiammazione dovuta ad otite, il Braun Thermoscan potrebbe dare letture sovrastimate di circa 0,5°C, proprio per il fatto che lo stato infiammatorio falsa la lettura della T.
