Starrett 117B Centre Punch With Round Shank, 4" Length, 3/32" Tapered Point Diameter

I had a need for a fixed centre punch with a small profile. This fit the bill perfectly. For the basic tool that it is, it looks really nice and is well hardened. This was able to punch into relatively tough steel with no issues at all. Sure, it might be a little on the pricey side compared to what you can pay, but in this case you really do get what you pay for, and it doesn't exactly break the bank. Next on my list is an optical centre punch, but those are (for a nice one at time of writing) north of £50, lol

Top quality tool. Should have bought one years ago. So useful for marking, starting off drilling, screwing, even nailing. And it's useful for a variety of materials from metal to plastic, stone to wood. Great for stopping "drill-bit walk".

It's a Starrett centre punch. There shouldn't be anything wrong with it. And there isn't. :)

Does the job required of it, still sharp after using for a while.

Ideal for accurate and intricate pop marking. Used on many occassions and the point has stayed sharp.

You get what you pay for. This is the case with this excellent USA made punch. Quality long lasting and great value.

Hard material, quality tool.

Use it a lot, handy to have, and great value to my workshop.

Aguanta bien los golpes sin perder el filo. Eso sí, hay que fijarse bien en el tamaño que es muy pequeño

Bello ed efficiente. La godronatura oltre ad essere bella è molto efficiente sia per la manipolazione che per evitare che rotoli giù dal banco di lavoro. Il profilo molto affusolato permette un'ottima precisione. Essendo rotondo e non sfaccettato è possibile riaffilarlo inserendolo nel mandrino di un trapano ed affilando con una pietra correttamente inclinata.

Solid build quality. Excellent so far. I sometimes opt for a ground piece of rebar because I feel bad using such an exceptional piece of craftsmanship. I’m tempted to tell the apprentice I made it myself, but he’d never believe me after seeing half the $@&1 that goes out the doors of our hell-hole.
